Independent serviceing - Recomendations please

I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations for independent garages in and around the London Area and an idea of their hourly charges?

Thanks in advance [:)]

Hi there,

it would be good to know what Porsche you have and the type of service you are looking for i.e Service, repair or restoration.

Best

Nick

Ah yes, I have a 987 Cayman S and will need a garage who can do general services and hourly work. Whilst I appreciate a sports car can cost more to run, the place I went to charged £200 per hour....

Hi Christopher,

£200/hr for labour sounds very expensive if that was a Porsche Independent, even at London rates. London is a big place but there are quite a few Independents around: Charles Ivey, Porschetech, Portiacraft and No. 5 Garage are well established companies who are worth contacting for competitive quotes, and JZM Porsche and RPM Technik, who have official Porsche Partner Network status but with much lower labour rates than the Porsche Dealers, are located in Herts.

Thanks Jeff, my thinking exactly. I really felt ripped off by the guys I used[s5]. Good to know there are some reputable ones out there so I'll call around. Hope this thread helps others [:D]

So a quick update. Having called around prices vary wildly, from £180 +VAT to £95! Definately pays to shop around for a decent independent.....

imo £100/hour would be my max (even that is silly high). Feel that £200 is a total rip off. Used to live in south london and anything that I couldn't do myself was a drive to RPM Technik and a train back home until the car was ready to pick up. Would recommend JAZ at St Albans too (among those already mentioned).

I'd endorse JAZ of St Albans (Steve Winter and Claire Winter). I have also heard that Ray Northway in Reading is very good too
