Wonder if any of you guys can help me, I have a 1990 944 turbo which has been off the road for about a year. I am looking for a reputable independent garage preferably in Ayrshire or as close as possilble, to service, change belts etc
I have been recommended motortune in Shotts and George Morrison in Rutherglen, but they are a bit far away. Is there any others worth trying.

RPM in Maryhill are a bit closer, but I recommend braving the longer trip to Motortune in Shotts.

Graham, how are doing pal, see you found the forum at last ! round for a coffee sometime as work from home a fair bit - John Frew will also be about Friday afternoon if your passing ! but to answer your question - I would use Peter McCann at Motortune in Shotts - bit of a hike for you, but I pass it at least once a week if you need a lift back to glasgow ! Peter is very reliable and not expensive, cheers Scott. 07971 664 647

Never dealt with RPM ..there is a guy in Paisley Owen Ferry 0141 848 5773 who used to work for Geo Morrison years ago but have no idea about his work .Motortune has good name ,I have used Geo on many an occasion but watch his price tend to find faults .Brian Miller but even further away, also Lorimer and Finlay in Glasgow again never used them

I had a bit of misfortune with RPM, so don’t plan to go there again. I know others who have been happy with them though.

Don't go to Shotts, the owner is awkward.
Gosh this is helpful.... care to elaborate , lots of satisfied customers on this forum , or is this a reaction to an incident in 1998 with the fuel line clamps?

Used all of the names mentioned. Shotts is a bit of a pain to get to but i agree, but overall i think Mototune is the best. Geo Morrisson also does a great job, closer to me but pricey. RPM did new front discs and pads but could fix an electrical fault with the sunroof of my 944 and when i chased them for an answer they were not interested. So i would go over to Shotts and put up with the extra journey George

I will have my ramp free in a few weeks or so if you want belts done. You can come and do them yourself if you are able to do them and give me a few quid for hire of the ramp. I have all the special tools here as well for doing them, doing a full set of belts, oil seals and water pump on a 1987 944 Turbo at the moment for a guy, Al Cowan

Yes, indeed it was. Once bitten... The fact is when I got home and told him the car was running poorly, he was downright rude to me.

RMG Automotive in Irvine specialise in German Marques. I used them a few years ago when I had golfs, there were often Porsches in for servicing when ever I visited them. http://www.yell.com/b/RMG+AUTOMOTIVE-Garage+Services-Irvine-KA128JS-661244/index.html
