independent v opc warranties

Could someone offer me some advice.

Buying a 2nd hand 996 from an independent, they have offered me a warranty for £400 claiming its exactly the same as the OPC (£700) but without £300 markup

has anyone had an independent warranty experience?

i would take the car for an opc check anyway and i am sure they would offer me a warranty anyway as the car has always been serviced thru opc.

Can't speak from experience of the independent warranty.
However, I bought a 996 recently from an independent dealer. I insisted on a full OPC inspection which qualified me for buying the OPC warranty (which I did without hesitation, due to RMS scares etc)

Last week I booked the car into OPC due to a minor oil leak and intermittent misfire.

Misfire due to Air Mass sensor, replaced without question. Oil leak due to leaking oil separator which was also replaced without question (and the whole engine and gearbox had to be dropped to achieve it). Not only has my warranty already paid for itself, it could not have been more painless

The independant warranty cannot be the same as the Porsche one, but without a markup.
This is because the Porsche one is administered by Porsche themselves.

I have read elsewhere on the net of certain companies refusing to pay out.
In addition, most independant warranties have upper claim limits, the Porsche one does not have a limit (as I understand it).
