Independents for 987S service ?

Not sure how much response i'll get, as there seems to be very little activity int his particular forum, but here goes..

My 987S is due its 3rd service, 6years old, 27k miles..

I know its a 'minor' service, but addition of v belt change and brake fluid (again)

Not priced up OPC Cardiff, but i can imagine it'll stretch to £600 or more, before they start with all the silly extras like air con cleaning etc. Alternatively i could go to OPC Bristol, but same applies.

So other than a trek to Ray at Northway in Reading, are there any other good reputable (ie any future buyer would recognise the stamp in the service book !) independents in South Wales ?

I'm now based in Abergavenny, working in Newport , and the car is out of warranty

Thanks.

Try Chris Denning Sports Cars, Whitchurch, Cardiff. 029 2069 2911. Lots of experience, used him for 911, boxster s and cayman s.

Thanks for the recommendation, this week i've called a few to get prices and availability..

Minor service, auxiliary belt change and brake fluid change..

Chris Denning ~£450, 3-4 day notice for bookings

RS Porsche ~ £340 , 3-4 day notice (current price includes free brake fluid change offer for August)

Northway (Reading) ~ £330, 3 WEEKS notice for bookings

All use approved Mobil oils (not Mobil 1) and genuine Porsche parts.

No decision on where to go yet, will see whether the MOT reveals any rectification work and go from there.

In comparison OPC came out around £730 at menu prices

I have no hesitation in recommending Chris Denning - he's a great chap and really knows modern Porsches.

Thanks for the recommendations - i'm finally taking the car to Northway in Readign on Friday, purely as i have three good ex Porsche colleagues who repeatedly used Northway.

Perhaps I'll use Chris in future, somewhat nearer.

Can highly recommend Ray and his team at Northway - appreciate its a bit of a trek from S.Wales but well worth it in my mind.

Within 3 minutes of arriving the car was up on the lift, being inspected for the usual problem areas - RMS/IMS , brakes, rad leaks, coil packs.

Minor service, brake fluid change and auxiliary belt change, adjust handbrake all for £330 inc VAT.

Within months of buying the car almost 6 years ago i was never that impressed with the feel or response of the brake pedal. The car went to OPC Wilmslow for some warranty work and they supposedly bled the brakes (no different). Same OPC serviced the car at 2 years and changed the brake fluid as per schedule - no different. Two years later OPC Chester did the next service and brake fluid change- still no better.

First application of the brakes on leaving Northway this afternoon - halleluyah !!! I now have a brake pedal thats progressive, but has a little firmness at the top of its travel and actually does something - just as it should be. I dunno what Ray did, or indeed what the OPCs did, but i'm one happy chappy :D
