Indian Red or Guards Red

Well just something to ponder over.

Looking through my workshop manual for something I came across the paint colours in the Body Section of the manual( Exterior Equipment Section 66-01 through to 66-04), and for each model year from 1989 through to 1992 it shows 80K code as Indian Red with not a mention of Guards Red.............so is the manual wrong ?

The official German name for the colour is "Indischerot" which literally translated from the German is Indian Red. I guess the Germans felt the name might be a little non-PC for the American market and changed the English/American name to Guards Red. It is the same colour, have no fear.

I fell for that one too. I got a real funny look when I turned up at my local OPC and asked for an Indian Red touch-up pen. After a good 10 mins of confusion and searching on the PET he determined it was the same as Guards Red.
