Indicator mech

Hya. I'm reluctantly selling my targa this summer, so I'm going to get all the little jobs done I've been meaning to do for ages to get it in tip-top condition (why do I always do this with cars? As soon as everything's sorted, I can't bare to sell it any more). Anyway, I got my guy to do a couple of things, including putting the original Porsche steering wheel back on. Now all of a sudden when I turn left, the indicator stalk doesn't click back into place after straightening up.

Has anyone had experience of getting the indicator mechanism out and cleaning / refurbishing it, or am I better off just paying for my guys to do it and replace it with a new one.

Thanks!

It was a Sparco.. quite basic, so I'm not sure if it was the cause of the problem or if he just knocked it or something.
