Indicator stalk problems

Looks like the old warhorse is starting to show some signs of age....

The indicator stalk on my 993 C2 is refusing to play ball - works ok on left turns, although sticky, but will not stay switched on when turning right. Also high resistane when held on to the right.

OPC Silverstone, who serviced the car last week reckon the whole unit behind the wheel (with both stalks) needs changing - no price quoted yet because of Easter weekend but will probably be expensive!

Anyone have any ideas for a simpler fix ?

Thanks,

Ravi

Be careful, some second hand ones are for sale which are lifted from boxters/996's. They look the same, but dont have the three speed wiper function of a 993.

I found out after an indy put a replacement second hand unit on mine .... I was not at all pleased - eventually ordered a new one at a princely sum of £200+

I find with my car, that on most roundabouts I have to self cancel the indicators. They appear to work correctly on 90 degree turns.

That's the problem with this forum, its a constant reminder of work which needs to be done!

And just in case anyone is wondering, the fix I applied is still going strong (although I don't exactly do mega miles in the 993).

Thanks all for the helpful suggestions.

Will investigate with my limited DIY skills before forking out the cash.....

Ravi
