Indicator stalk

Hi,

Today my indicators have started to play up.

Its very hard to push the stalk to turn left and the autoreturn for both left and right has stopped working.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there an easy fix?

Thanks

Antony

The easiest fix is just to swap out the stalk assembly with one that's working. Promax sold me a second hand one about 5 years ago for about £20.

The stalk assembly is prone to failure - I broke one on a friend's S2 once. (Very embarrassing, he was a work colleague who loved my S2 and bought one on account of it, and the first time I drove it I broke the stalk assembly!) The self-cancel goes west, although I'm not sure whether this also explains the stiff operation on yours. It's not hard to change but you need a spanner to fit the 22mm (or is it 24mm?) nut in the middle of the steering wheel. Oli.

24mm nut in middle of the wheel. You may find when you take the wheel off that it's the spring on the cancel that has come adrift. It may be an easy fix. If not then it's the usual suspects for a secondhand one.

Got some spare stalk assemblies here if you are interested............they all do that sir !
