Has anyone managed to dissemble the stalk unit and repair the auto return?

Garth said:Yes, in fact. Drill out the rivets and it comes apart. Take it apart slowly though as there are a fair few springs holding contacts in place and its like a can of worms if you pull it right off like I did. I took mine apart to swap the stalks over to a newer unit that had the decals rubbed off. Easy done
bmnelsc said:Great - thank you! Now we need an update from papamantra about what he found trying to repair his indicator auto return...I'm in the same boat so keen to know if things just get out of alignment or if physical damage occurs in there. I mention alignment because I had a power window switch "jam up" and when I took it apart (quite easy and there is a video on utube) there was no damage but the lube had all evaporated, it had become sticky and the pivot ball had slipped out of alignment. Some contact cleaner for general cleaning, a point file on the burned contacts and a light smear of lubriplate (or other switch grease) and it works great. About a 20 minute job for the first time - once you see how it goes you could probably knock one off in 5.
