Indicator stalks

Well, having rectified itself a few years ago the wiper stalk is now loose again, and so offering a random selection.
I'm shocked to discover that the usual sources want £220 for one!! Any wisdom here about an alternative please?
I guess VW parts no good as this has a specific "push" function for headlamp wash.

Normally the grease gone really stiff with age and the cold makes it even worse
a good soaking with GT85 or ACF90
should help fix it,

Thanks Waylander...a sensible idea as usual!
I was wondering whether the pivot for the stalk has just come loose....but either way, steering wheel off to have a look.
Would WD40 do the job??

Right. I'm with it now...a Google session tells me GT85 has PTFE, so ideal for this.
And...I bet you're right about the cold. It was fine in the summer!

Did you get sorted? I had a broken indicator stalk that wouldn’t cancel. Having balked at the cost of a new assembly I drilled the rivets to have a look inside and it’s all pretty simple, so long as you route the copper braiding correctly on reassembly.

Ended up fabricating a repair with a bit of 1mm metal and some sugru. Total repair cost £20 including buying a rivet gun.

I did...Waylander's suggestion was spot on, so when the car is warm it's fine but I have bought some PTFE spray which I will try.
Glad to hear about your fix...I'd be up for that if mine eventually breaks.
Next dashboard job is the clock, but I'm wary that the trim panels will just break...!
