Indicator switch lost in dashboard?

Hi all

Happy Christmas!

As I was heading home for Christmas, I flicked on my emergency indicators to thank someone for letting me in. The switch vanished into the dashboard as I pressed it, and I was stuck with both indicators on for a while!

Anyway, is there a simple way to pop the switch back into place? I can move it around in the hole, but can't get anything behind it to bring it forward. Any tips? Hoping it's not a major dashboard out job to fix!

Thanks in advance,

Giles

Have a look at Clark's Garage, it tells you how to remove the trim piece that the switch sits in. It's a 15-20 minute job at the most.

The switch has probably broken the little retaining clips on the trim piece, a new bit of trim will look out of place so just Araldite the switch back into place - it'll be straightforward when it's in front of you.

Yeah mine did the same. The Clark's guide is simple to follow. Turns out that someone had previously done the same thing. The trim as that was also glued in. Just glued again and it's been fine for years.

My 86 car needs this sorted, tangs on the switch broken.
New replacement switch in the garage....................been chopping fallen trees that are leaning against the house today..........................chain saws are epic !!!

Will get some 944 stuff (jobs) done over the next week if the bloody weather sorts it's self out, it has been seriously wet and some severe damage causing winds up here last week or so []

Its probably not the switch, its more likely its the panel. It has two pathetic little clips to hold the switch in place which are not up to the job. Mine was broken and then glued but whilst fiddling in this area I managed to break it off again and then got glue everywhere trying to replace it. A new panel has since been installed along with a red hazard switch from a 968 and neither look out of place really,
