indicator switch

Indicator switch seems to have decided to play up today. Unless the steering wheel is slightly turned the indicator switch wont ckick into the "on" position either way. Sound familiar anyone??

hi,pretty much the only thing it can be in the indecator self cancel pin,its a small spring loaded plastic flat pin that moves out in to the steering colume and after you have turned the corner,a ptruding pin on the steering colum catches it and pushes it either up or down, depending on if u have turned left or right, and self cancels the indecators as the steering wheel straightens up.the only way to get to it is by removing the steering wheel as its a one piece switch including the wiperswitch and it fits over the steering colum,u will need to remove the airbag,it is held in place by 2 torx head bolts at the back of the steering wheel, then pull it away from the wheel and unplug the orange plug (dont switch the ignition on with airbag removed or u will need to have the airbag light reset) undo the big nut holding the wheel on and pull the wheel off,it may take some pulling, just make sure 2 mark the steering shaft & the wheel so it goes back on in same positon as it came off, remove the plastic trim round the stalks and you can then remove the switch stalks.it may be possibal to repair the stalk, but it does not always last, then you have all the hassle of taking it off again to fit a new one,but its up to you.i do have a spare one i bought a while back but never used,if like i can send u some photos so you see the plastic pin im refering too, anyway hope that helps, cheers

seriously kind of you to offer but i today dropped it off to Paul Stephens repairers on the essex/suffolk borders called Clark and Carter who prepped the car before i picked it up in the first place. Whilst there they are looking into a couple of other bits for me which very kindly Paul Stephens arranged for me. Very kind offer
