my 2000 3.2s has always had a lumpy idle every nown again when cold now getting abit worse had it for 3yrs now its my summer weekend toy/winter project, when I got the car I put into Porsche for major service and they replaced
spark plugs and a couple of coil packs it still didn't idle smooth, I've replaced the AOS cleaned the throttle body and I got a cheap maf (yes I know I just wanted to see if the original maf was kaput) but it still misses/hunts until warm
but even then it still isn't 100% smooth I've no excessive vacuum at oil filler cap doesn't seem to be any leaks in air intake it's just annoying me, I put my durameterics on but no codes I did find number 3 plug missed 13 times in a few seconds but thought Porsche would have picked that up and
informed me coil pack was bad going to replace packs and maf soon. but was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts or ideas. also after cheap maf was installed my fuel economy went downhill used to get 25 to 30mpg on dual carriageway doing 70ish same journey now 19 to 23mpg..yes I know don't buy cheap maf

cheers

I would strongly recommend that you have the bores scoped as rough idle and higher fuel consumption are associated with the dreaded bore scoring.

Cheers for reply i don't do many miles probably 3000 miles last year and 10000 since i bought it and it hasn't use any oil and no blue smoke which is more the symptoms of bore score not saying mine wont be scored but with 48000 miles on the clock with the original coils i will change them and if it is still the same will get the bores scoped at my local indie

Changed plugs and coil packs and new bosch maf and all good now been for a spirited drive total difference smooth as silk and fuels gained 4mpg
