Indoor Car Cover

What is the general opinion here about indoor car covers? Does anyone here use one? I've been thinking about buying one but am not sure if I need one! [:D] Anyone like to convince me one way or another?

Thanks!

Colin,

I have to admit that I bought a cover for my car soon after I got it. I used it a few times but mostly found it a pain to put on and take off. When it's on it does, undoubtably, stop the car getting dusty.

The problem I find is when to put it on. If the car is wet, you can't put it on. If the car is hot, you can't put it on. So the only time you can put it on is when it's been standing for a while - and it's already dusty!!

The other problem I have is that when the cover is on, it's too much trouble to mess about taking it off to do those small "tinkering" jobs when it's in the garage - plus, you can't just look at it when the feeling takes you!!!

The nett result is that I haven't used mine for over a year now. I'd recommend investing the money in a California Car Duster to remove the dust and forget the cover!!!

Regards

Dave

Ha! [:D]
Thanks for that Dave. Everything you've said makes sense. I guess if someone was not using their car for weeks or months then a car cover makes some sense but now that I've got the Carrera - I don't simply want it to sit in the garage. I want to use it when I can.

There is of course as you say - the undoubted pleasure of simply looking at her in the garage.... not possible with the car cover.

I think I'll go with your advice and just get a duster.

Dave's right about the car cover, iv'e had my cover since christmas, probably used it four times! The only time it's really useful is just after i have spent time and effort on giving my C4 a polish, my garage seems to be infested with spiders and they are a bit partiall to wood lice, so you leave the cover off the car, come back up the next weekend and there it is C4 covered in spider poo and wood lice carcases and dust.

Still, take it out again, blast around the lanes, give it a clean, put it away again, loads more fun than cutting grass, diy etc, no spiders were harmed in the writing of this message!

One advantage that a car cover gives you is that people cannot see what you have underneath it.
I have car covers for both mine that sit in the garage, ask me if they are being used!
If you do get one then go for one without zips so no danger of scratching the paintwork.
Cheers,

Back to the original question - Yes, I use the car cover and yes Dave is right, it hurts not to see the beast when I like, but I've got less dust, the wee lad is less likely to scratch it and more importantly it's a great joy when I unveil her......ahhhhh...adds to the dream..is it really a 911 in my garage.More to the point i'd reccomend you try 'Cover Craft of Europe' tel:0207736 3214 for the breathable indoor cover..must go have a look

Sincerely
