whats everyone one running on their 911 turbo 1991 is the standard air filter set up better or an induction kit

Hi,

I have an induction kit fitted to my 88 3.3 turbo - can't say for sure if it makes much difference but you do get a bit more space in the engine compartment - maybe to fit another turbo..)

Will try and get a photo of mine sometime.

Regards,
Andrew

did you notice any difference in sound after fitting the induction kit? any idea what make it is? Do you think a replacement element is worth it from K&N?

I certainly did but how much of that was attributed to the induction kit I couldn't really say as I had a bigger turbo & intercooler fitted at the same time along with a 9M header kit.
I got the induction kit from 9M but saw the same kit on offer at G-force and I think design 911 too all about the same price.
Wasn't too impressed with the K&N replacement though, although at approx £50 compared to £295 it's ok I guess.K&N claim 4-8hp I think the induction kit 12-20 with deeper noise.
Induction kit changes the look from stock somewhat to!

induction kit definitely gives a deeper sound the only problem is the induction kit decreases performance in a turbo as it is directly taking in warm air from the engine bay
whats a 9m header kit

Details of the 9m header kit can be found at this link - http://www.9mracing.co.uk/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Shop&file=index&req=viewproduct&productid=91&category=204&parentid=2

9m also have a tuning guide for the Turbo 2 on their website http://www.9mracing.co.uk/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=NinemeisterContent&file=index&req=viewarticle&articleid=22&topic=7&articlename=Tuning%20Guide:%20965%20Turbo%202 - mine has the powerflow intake (sounds fabulous) and 1 bar boost spring fitted (by previous owner).

Colin put it on the rolling road for me a couple of weeks ago (following a turbo pipe replacement) and my car has much more torque than factory spec although peak bhp was slightly down on what he and I expected. He believes this is probably down to the mixture running a little lean rather than anything else.

Interstingly, they have done an exhaust headers + EFI + Motec conversion to Turbo 2 that I think gives around 420bhp whilst being much more tractable than the standard car. May be worth pursuing if you've got lots of £££'s burning through your pocket linings!
