I have a 2000 3.2 S and am looking for an induction kit to give me some more noise I am also looking for an exhaust but dont want the drone that most have. really I want a set up that has a nice grumble is quiet at 70 and then when on throttle sounds like it actually is a sports car.

You might try the de-snork first as it's free and will certainly change the sound for you.

Hi RonnieG. I have purchased my first Porsche, just last month. It is a Boxster S 987 2005. It came with 'Janspeed' 'Boxster 987 Cat Manifold W/Sports Cats' and I have to say they sound fantastic. They rumble and pur when cruising and roar when the throttle is applied. [:D] Hope this helps?

now you are talking. had it away todat seeing about suspension upgrades and a few RS brace bars to stiffen her up. I have been told about the Janspeed but have never had a chance to chat with anyone who had it fitted. many thanks will do some searching now.. cheers

Nick, I see you've got a 986 and 987 - does this mod apply to both?
Richard

It applies to both the 986 and 987 although the method of removal is slightly different.

I assume there no issues to desnork in British Ilses weather conditions, I already have the mesh installed to protect the rads. Sorry its the side air intake my mistake[:D]

The de snork is more about noise than performance. The 986 has a restriction in the inlet in the form of a small flat panel filter, fitting a performance item on the 986 will improve the throttle response and give a marginal increase in peak power (1-5 hp tops) The 987 has a completely different intake system and filter which is not restrictive, so fitting a performance item is totally pointless and more risk than benefit. The snorkel on both cars is designed to do two things.
1. Prevent water entering the intake - in case of driving in heavy rain or through a deep puddle. Water get onto the filter and blocks it or worse still into the engine creating hydraulic lock , wich can wrech the engine.
2. Ensures that the intake remains consistent in terms of air flow versus speed (no ram air effect). Too much air without the correct fuelling at high rpms will cause the engine to overheat, in most cases the ECU realises a weak mixture and retards the ignition to compensate. If the car already has a modified ECU then this ram air effect can be utilised.

The 986 reduces intake noise by virtue of both an inlet baffle and a helmholz resonator on the intake pipework. The 987 doesnt have a modified inlet tract , just the baffle.

Personally i dont like the sound with the baffle removed as its overpowering and more of a constant drone , better to have a decent exhaust note IMHO.

nope never have seen yours running... mind you mine is heading towards a bare shell at teh moment.. purists may not like her next year lol!
