Hi guys,I have changed the oil on my new acquisition today, what **!! bleep, bleep it is to change the oil filter.Unfortunately I caught one of the water hoses and it now dribbles. No matter I needed to replace the coolant so I will do both jobs together. My query is,is there a drain on the radiator and a drain for the crankshaft,if so where ?Finally my owners handbook shows the front jacking point for a hoist inboard.I think all jacking points are in line on the sill on my 1990 S2 cab.

Hi
There is a drain on the rad - rear of bottom right with your head under the bonnet!
The filter is awkward to get a grip on but there as various tools that can help - I like the screwdriver through it, but there are others!
Whatever you use, it is almost impossible to stop oil coating everything below it - I just collect what I can and clean up after.......
What have you damaged on the water system to make it leak?

You might be better pulling the lowest hose off the radiator to drain it as the drain plug has a habit of snapping in two as you remove it if it's the original part.

Forgot the jacking - use the mark on the sill to jack it up - DO NOT use the floor or the little tower under there to jackit up or for axle stands, best place for them is the rear wishbone mount.

If you use the floor or tower it is likely to bend the floor and your throttle will stick!

Hi - I have a an S2 also (1991)...Mike and Eldavo are giving good advice.
Drains - no - none on block - undo the lower rad hose to drain. Also - when refilling - you need to use the bleed screw left of the upper rad hose to engine fitting to remove air from the system as it warms up. Undo slightly and when there are no more bubbles and just a steady weep you should be ok - snug it back up. Porsche actually recommends a pressure flush system to change coolant (mostly because of the tendency to air lock in the head IMO). Best to elevate the front of the car a little if possible.

Jacking points - my owners manual says jack from the side (under the diamond indents on the sill). I know there appear to be jacking points fore and aft also but the manual still says only use the center one. To use jack stands or a proper hoist - the support points are identified in the workshop manual and there is a diagram floating around this forum which clearly shows them.

Good luck with your new ride - no picture so I'll assume its in the fastest color (red of course!)

There is a short rubber hose that runs alongside the oil filter, and it's easy to tear it when removing the filter. I did it when I changed mine a month or so ago - first time since I bought the car, but still annoying.

Good news is that the replacement hose is less than a fiver from an OPC.

Oli.

Thanks guys for all the info.Yes it is the small hose.It probably was original and easily damaged. This helps my fragile EGO.Now I know how to proceed.
