Info needed on 924 door mirrors

Hi there,

I am looking for a set of manual mirrors to fit my 951. I have been told that certain 924 models came with visually similar mirrors to that of 944 TurboCup cars. (Only difference was that the Cup mirrors weren't adjustable from inside the vehicle where as the 924's had a cable and and a lever to adjust them from inside?) I have actually seen one 924S with those smaller mirrors and it surely did look sportier..[8D]
What I'd like to know is what are the part numbers for those 924 mirrors..or better yet if someone knows where to buy them second hand??
I have been looking a lot of 924 pictures but it seems that those mirrors are quite rare. I guess those were only available for short period of time?

Thanks in advance,

Jarmo

Mmmm, all I can say is my old '84 car, my '86 S and my '88 S all have exactly same electronically heated and adustable "flag" mirrors. BTW when I bought my '84 new, the Passenger door more was 105.00 "extra" [] a lot of £££ at the time!

I agree with Alan the only set on none electric mirrors I have seen were a set of Ford (mk 2 escort?) that were fitted to a 83 924

Perhaps i can elaborate. We had, in belgium, in the early 1980-ties a 924. That wasn't a lux model, but a basic model with "sensible" options added. *caugh*

The mirrors were in black, non painted plastic and were manually adjustable from the inside of the drivers door. The passenger side door was an option, and most of them came with one mirror only. I understand that the UK market came in a "lux" spec from the early eighties onwards so hence it might be difficult to find those manual black mirror. Do a search on Ebay.de or so contact www.v-zweeden.com, the dutch porsche breakers. They have a field full of 924 with those mirrors.

Hi there,

It's a little hard to tell from that angle, the difference shows better when viewed from the front of the car. But yes that looks like the ones I am looking for.

The smaller lightweight mirros were fitted to the 924 Le Mans special edition cars, and came in white or black. (at least those are the only colours I have.) That is what I have fitted to my 924GT race car. As you wouild expect, same operating mechanism as VW internally adjustable mirrors of the same vintage.

Looking at the picture I think they are they same as those fitted to VW Golf MK1.
This maybe a cheaper alternative.
Cheers,
