Injector Cleaning

Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone had ever cleaned there injectors before.
Have my engine out at the moment and have been recommended that i clean the injectors while it is out.
Have heard that you can use ultrasonic cleaner, but only have access to one with salt water solution. And i am concerned that this will finish off injectors.
If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Mark

Don't do it! U;trasonics are fine but the tollorance of the the injector is so fine salt will wreck them. You can check the spray pattern into a jam jar or similar, if it is uneven then get the cleaned by ultrasonics.

Hey Mark, welcome to the forum. How about posting some pics of the RS and telling us a bit about it when it's all back together. Have you had it long?

Mark -had mine done sonically in order to rule out a misfire prob -it wasn't that....[:(]

Thanks Chaps,
Will leave the cleaning with the ultrasonic cleaner for now until i can find a better method of cleaning them.
Just needed a way of checking they work correctly as detonation on top of pistons(had to be replaced)and need to rule out injectors.
On the subject of car history, had the RS for 6 years now.
Been round France,Italy and back through France on one trip(with 2 year old in back, sorry son!!), and been to Le Mans a couple of times.
Will post photo's of car and engine refurbishment soon.Due to get engine back next weekend.'[:)]'

Regards Mark.

A little more info please. [;)] Colour, spec etc. Are you putting the engine back in your self. Did you have it built to standard? What else are you doing whilst its apart?

Sorry - just nosey about other peoples cars

Hugh, isn't that what we do ? [;)]

But there's genearally some great info that bounces back in return [:D]

My car is racing white(carpet model). It lived in Italy for one owner then in Monaco for the next.
Then it was shipped to this country for the previous owner.I have never taken it on track, except on that fateful day a Silverstone for the classic "slow" parade laps'[;)]'.

The engine is being refurbished by a specialist. I took the engine out myself, and stripped it completely back.
I have removed the engine before to replace gearbox shaft seal.
The whole engine is being rebuilt to standard form.Everything is being checked,Crank, camshafts, springs e.c.t.
All being balanced, cleaned and some parts renewed(pistons)
Also while it has been out i have removed and checked the diff out.
Which turned out to be in very good order with very little wear.
Hope this is of some interest

Hi Mark, very interesting indeed. White cars seem to very vogue right now, good choice. Sounds like the car has an interesting history. Good to hear owners getting their hands dirty, I must say chickened out of taking the engine out myself. But do plan to start getting my hands dirty on some of the other bits. One of the appealing things about the RS is that it has less in it, so less to go wrong.and easier to work on.

Standard build I think can make sense (its what I did). Plenty of time in the nut behind the wheel, rather than the engine for me.

Keep us all posted on progress, as Chris says we are all very interested and it often leads the conversation somewhere else!!

Mark, your car is probably in one of these pics then...

Yours?
