Injector ticking?

hi all
anyone experienced this, colleague has a G plate 944 cab that is exhibiting a ticking noise at engine speed. Thought maybe tappet but appears to be coming from fuel rail area. When speed up to about 2k revs can hear ticking at engine speed, by releasing throttle and noise goes but comes back as engine goes to idle. Assume fuel cuts as throttle closed hence noise disappears. Disconnecting each injector in turn does not loose the ticking. Any ideas, fuel pressure sensor ?
thanks

If you fit a Lindsey Fuel Rail the noise goes away, well - gets drowned out by the noise of the fuel hammering back and forth!

"They all do that sir"

'Zactly. Which is why it's wise not to rush to a diagnosis of duff tappets because something on the top of the engine sounds 'tappetty'.

It's utterly normal and nothing to worry about. (And there's nothing you can do about it either, other than turn the stereo up!)

Oli.
