Inner rear wheel arch?

964rh

New member
Hi

Was the 964 ever supplied with one of these? Seems a bit open now the g pipes on + I'm getting a lot of stones smacking the underside of the wing.

Thanks

Rob

Rob,

I think the rear protection was pretty minimal. The fronts had the regular inner plastic protector and I think the left rear had something although not a full arch protector. The right however was left fairly open.

Others might be more forthcoming - I don't have ANY on my car since the original NB arch protectors are useless with the wider turbo arches.

Thanks Dave

What would you suggest to get round the problem of stone hitting the underside?

The only reason I ask is that some of them have hit with force and look to be reshaping the rear wing for me. Do you think some waxoil kinda prep would help?

Rob,

I've got to say it's something I've never noticed!! If you're throwing up rocks with the potential to reshape the wing I doubt any type of waxoil/underseal would be of any benefit. Maybe you just need to be more picky about where you drive!!

Some of those roads over the Peak District drive were pretty rock-strewn but I didn't really notice any being thrown up - maybe I let my exhaust tune out the sound!! Steve made a little comment about the time I left you surveying the scenery!!

Back to your question though - I can't really suggest anything constructive I'm afraid. I suppose you COULD get some thick plastic padding and stick it on the underside of the wing with a glue gun.

Hi

The 964 RSs never came with underseal or protective inner and I hade the "pimple" problem with my car after a track day last year. Usually happens when the tyres get sticky and pick up large stones, then fling them into the arch at high speed.

I think narrow body cars came with plastic liners so you shouldn't have this problem - check if they are missing. You can protect the wheelarch by covering it with anything that will stay up there.

Jimbers - what did you use for your wheel arches (was it an old pair of nappies?).

Regards

Definately nothing in between wheel and wing at the back I'll have a ring round the scrappies to see if they've got anything.

Hi Guys
I had the same problem 3/4 years ago when I tracked the RS all the time
Solution for me was to fit 993 rear arch liners.
They come in 2 halves and I only purchased the back halves that cover the rear wing
I think I have only picked up 1 light ding since then
I got them from Porchapart at approx £40.00 a pair and secured them with a mixture of cable ties and small screws on flang areas.
Hope this helps
regards
Boydy
