Instrument Cluster Failure

Just picked up a grey 1985 944 2.5 Lux last week, oval dash version with original teledials etc. The car is in need of some TLC for MOT, and one of the issues with the car is the instrument cluster, apart from the panel lights, nothing in it works!

Temp gauge, speedo, oil pressure etc are all dead, and the heater blower is blowing cold air only. Headlights, indicators, wipers, radio and dash lights are all working fine though.

Would I be right in thinking this is likely to be a relay somewhere? Or could it be the ignition switch? I had a look on eBay for relays and I cant' figure out which relay I would need, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

possibly a plug fell out the back of the cluster, they have locking legs on them that break off when you say hello to them.

i would check all 3 plugs are in correctly

Just to update this. Turned out to be a relay that had failed.

New one in and everything is working as it should thankfully.

Picking the car up today from the garage and then it's time to get the rusty sills cut out and replaced, plus a bit of paint here and there. :)

Good luck with the sills.....
When they're opened up, if they look like this inside, make sure they're fixed properly or they won't last.

Nasty state, I wouldnt be surprised if mine were similar to be honest, I'll know next week.

The guy doing them for me is first class, earlier this year he did a full glass out respray on my 968 Sport and it was a fantastic job. He has lots of experience doing 924's and 944's. Hes fabricating the inner sills and I have a set of outers and rear quarter repair panels should he need them too.
