I recently posted that I have received good quotations off Confused.com

Since it is that time of year again, I ran my car's details through and the top but one best quote was from Lancaster Insurance who advertise in PP and also offer a club discount.

Does anyone have experience of them?

Scub that....just called them up and they wanted to charge me £30 extra to guarantee a courtesy car, they are only subject to availability normally.

Also, it seemed such a complicated process even before they tried to con an extra £30 out of me for something that should be included anyway, so far as I can see.

Not recommended!!

I'm with ClassicLine insurance on a limited mileage policy (3k pa) - can be upped to 5k with a phone call

I got their No. from PP.

Agreed Value
Fully Comp
£100 claim excess
£60 windscreen excess
european cover

Price was LESS THAN HALF the PRICE of all the others i rang [:D]

Ask for Daren Coote (director), seems a top bloke who knows his cars and won't ask you a million daft questions such as 'is it a hatchback or saloon'!!?

Certainly try Hagerty - £190 on limited mileage, garaged policy

Blimey that is cheap - what is the mileage restriction, as I'm with Hagerty too, but paying a little more, at present?!

Limited to 4,000 miles per annum. The car has to be in the garage by 10pm if further than 5 miles from home. To have the policy you need to have a 2nd car which is yours and not a company car. However they do not take into consieration No Claims Bonus, so you are free to use it for the 2nd car.

OK, that explains the difference, mine is for 5000 miles!

I had a proper conversation with Phil at Hagerty. It was nice to call an insurance company and talk to someone who actually gave a sh1t!

The quote was £200 less than my current renewal premium with agreed value and 3K miles. If it comes to September next year and it looks like 3K won't be enough, I can increase to, say, 5K for an extra £40 or so.

I'm still waiting for Classic Line to get back to me, but will report back on that soon, no doubt.

Thanks for your help guys!

BTW Hagerty will also provide you with trackday cover. They charge 10% of the policy price per trackday. Just ring them up a few days before the trackday, pay the extra premium over the phone and your covered. Works out at about £34 per trackday for me. Just in case Curbourough gave you the bug [;)]

He told me that too! but note that the excess rises to 10% of the agreed value.

I think I'm too slow though....[&o]
