My renewal arrived yesterday - I was staggered to see a 40% increase in premium from last year [] - I have made no claims in the year! I have been with Footman James for several years using their multi-car policy with agreed values on both Porsches. I will call FJ to see what explanation they can offer - I wonder whether there have been any big payouts on 964RSs recently.......?

Has anyone else had similar experience recently?

Any recommendations for alternative quotes would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you are too lazy to shop around they make you pay! Try Classicline as they are very reasonable and cover trackdays here and in Europe.

They do a multi car policy too.

Hi David,
Hagerty were the ones that many people were with and their premiums went up by silly amounts too. I used Classic Line as they didn't require a tracker to be fitted to vehicles over £50k whereas some companies I tried did.
I find it's necessary to try a few different companies each year just to confirm you're paying a fair price.

I don't think it's anything to do with claims for RS versions. Those of us with lesser Porsches also saw similar hikes in premiums. Like Richard I was with Hagerty who I believe have become anti-trackday (I believe they're OK for those who are just going to keep their 911 in a garage all year and just take it out to get the MOT). They want our money at zero risk! I'm also now with Classicline.

I'm another one who moved to Classicline after a good few years with Hagerty.

With regards to Steve's comment about Hagerty being anti-trackday, I asked if my car could still be covered by them on a 'no trackdays' policy - with a view to buying one-day cover for trackdays if I needed it...

"Computer said no".

Apparently their underwriter Allianz has decided for cars to be covered on their 'classic/limited mileage/agreed value' policy, they need to be more than 20 (or maybe it was even 25) years old.

Seems Hagerty have lost a lot of Porsche business this year.

Thanks for the replies gents.

I have now moved my business to Classic Line, they matched the premium I paid last year with FJ - with exactly the same level of cover including guaranteed valuations etc etc

Haggerty proved quite expensive (but not as expensive as FJ) - but they insist on a 24hr Tracker for vehicles > £40k []. I would have liked to have given Haggerty my business as they seemed the most professional and had the greatest empathy with Porsche cars.

Manning declined to quote (or couldn't be bothered to return my calls) - although I think their underwriters would have insisted on a 24hr tracker on the 964RS, which would have ruled them out for me.

Cheers
David

I went with Manning for the GT3 and the 993RS and with REIS (Richard Eggar) on the 964RS (N-GT and MOTEC) and the GT3R ...

Yes Manning did need chasing, but in the end they were good.

According to news on R4 yesterday, all premiums have gone up average 40% with most 17-22 year olds copping a £2400 premium.......
