Renewal time. 1995 Cab. limited mileage (8000 pa). 10 yrs NCD. Premium of £593 with First Alternative. Just turned 40. Does that sound dramaticaly higher/lower than anything anyone has had recently? If you have a much lower quote then would be interested for company details.

Thanks

Michael

Doesn't seem out of the ballpark - just insured my '97 993 Targa for £525 with Privilege - 34, 9 years NCB (protected), 6K miles p.a., one SP30, garaged, SD&P only.

I reckon you could do better than that.

I'm paying £628 with Adrian Flux for my 1997 993 Targa. 4 years NCD(protected), I'm 37 with a 5k mileage limit. The initial offer was under £600 but I decided to stump up another £30 for protected NCD.

Shop around it costs nothing for a quote.

I'm renewing mine with Admiral again this year - £498 which did surprise me as it went down by about £50. I'm 40+, 10 yrs protected NCD, no points or accidents etc, 8k miles pa (but it's not limited), Class 1 business use for my wife and I, living in the Thames Valley.

Got my renewal letter recently from Adrian Flux - £578. for 993 C2S, 3 yrs NCB, 6k miles, 500 excess, but shopped around a bit rather than be blinkered, as-ya-do. Got a couple of quotes in the low £500's (Direct line and Bell), then A Manning quoted £475 to include PCGB trackdays, which I thought wqas good, and A-Plan (recommended from the Pistonheads site) came up with an even better £459, both with same £500 excess. Called Adrian Flux to cancel renewal, who then promptly promised to match the cheapest, so now in a quandry, which way to go? I've got until the 3rd nov to decide.
It's a jungle out there!

Thanks for all the assistance. In the end Asset Trust offered to do it for £418 including girlfriend, business use and 7500 miles. Excess only £250. Comparisons were £495 Adrian Flux, £593 First Alternative and £478 Privilege.

And for the jesters in the forum that means they insure my girlfriend, not that they throw in one with the insurance. Now that would be comprehensive cover.

Elephant which is part of the Admiral group quoted £380 for my 993 Cab, no claims, offenses, 10+ NCD, me and the missus, Garaged plus a £500 excess.

Really happy with quote, it's only £100 more than the missus Renault Megane group 7.

Who says that Porsches are expensive to run!!!!

Just be careful with Admiral and Elephant. They will only cover a "standard" car. Therefore if the car has options, even factory fitted options at the time of productions such as 17" wheels, sunroof, upgraded stereo etc, they will not cover it.

I had a bizarre converstaion with one of their sales team a few years ago. Decided it was not for me.

For the record I am with Ann Manning - £468. 5000 mile limit. £550 XS Full NCB (protected) plus free PCGB track day cover (+£750 XS) I am 38.

FYI there's a great feature on the 993 in the november edition of 911 & Porsche world mag, and on page 85 it quotes prices for serviceable items and also insurance. They obtained examples from sports car specialists Nowell and Richards where the premium was from £383, so I got a quote from them today, and obtained the cheapest for me yet - £425 thru R&SA. So maybe worth a try. Haven't tried Asset Trust yet, didn't have time, but that will be my last. It's so boringly time consuming.

Interesting to read all your insurance experiences. My renewal notice has just come in for my 1994, 993 Carrera 2 un-modified at £517 from RH Specialist Car Division. This is based upon a guaranteed value of £22,000 (I had a very low valuation from PCGB as I would have no chance of replacing my 50k excellent condition motor for any where near that price, which has been confirmed by RLR who service it, Bill Heaney my local Porsche approved repair centre who recently replaced a stone chipped window and my local Porsche centre who commended me on its condition when I was getting the air bag routine maintenance check) Sorry I digress!! Limited to 5000mls, free European recovery and non competitive track day insurance, legal protection with £175 excess and no, no claims requirement as it is based on classic insurance since it turned 10. Checked a few numbers you guys mentioned and again no one can touch it nearest was £100 out. Could get a standard insurance cover without all the above for around the same using my 4yrs no claims but no doubt if anything happened God forbid, they would probably want to hand me a cheque for £15k. May be a company a few of you would benefit from contacting if you have similar circumstances. PS I'm 36 car is garaged over night and has the usual Thatchmans.

OK, made a decision on mine. Brief spec - 993 2S, 6000 miles pa, 3 yrs NCB on 2nd car. Tried A Manning, A Flux, Asset Trust, A-Plan, plus others. Best deal I found for me was £419, with a £500 excess, includes 30 days euro, and 5 'properly organised' trackdays, and thru Royal & Sun alliance. Broker was www.nowellandrichards.co.uk , as featured in 911 & Porsche world mag, and the 993 article. Worth a try, I spoke to Adam who knew his stuff.
Not associated etc, just a recommended personal experience..
