Insurance (again)

Chaps - quick question, I'm considering a Boxster as a daily driver for the Summer. Just wondering what sort of money you guys are being charged for insurance. I'll be on about 10k miles per year and am hoping I will get the under what it costs me for my old (but beloved) 7 series smoker.

Just looking for some benchmarks.

Thanks, Craig

As ever it depends on age etc.

I've been paying £600 - £650 on my Cayman S and my son aged 32 was paying about the same on a Boxster S. Mine just went down to £500 when I moved to Saga and got an introductory discount etc.

My son who now has a VX220 turbo has just had his renewal at £800+ and says he could insure a Porsche for less.

All these were comprehensive, protected NC etc. Cars garaged.

Just paid £380 (yesterday) Nowell and Richards 01785 255514 Boxster S me and wife Cambs area

Around £660 - currently with PCGB/Marsh/Aviva and changing to Manning in July for only slightly more but with track day coverage.

Thanks chaps. Nowell & Richards were over £900! Am going to try Endsleigh. CVI quoted £398 on my classic policy, and the best I got with the meercats was £450 as a main vehicle, which is acceptable.

That was interesting! I called Adrian Flux and they offered a new non-classic policy, no transfer of NCD required, for £600 flat (this gets me over the classic policy/sell other car etc conundrum that I can resolve at another time). I cheekily suggested if they could do it for £500 I would be very interested and the advisor said he would have a chat with an underwriter. I got a call back 15 minutes later to say they would be happy to make it happen!

It's only £100 more than the best Classic quote I got, with more miles, business use and a fresh NCD accumulating. Good deal!

And my worst quote? £1600!!!

Its certainly worth calling - and being cheeky! The comparison websites are pretty much a waste of time - the more specialised companies aren't on them and you simply get a ton of SPAM! Well done Craig!

Try Direct Line or Privilege.

Our family runabout had a claim last year and the renewal premium (unprotected) with Privilege was still 40% less than the cheapest on the comparison sites.

Thanks chaps. Nowell & Richards were over £900

I know things just dont add up - as said my Boxster S was £380 and on the same day I did my 993 S with the same company Nowell and Richards and the 993 was £330[8|]
