Insurance for a Boxster

The time is arriving swiftly for the renewal of my insurance. I have business class1, fully comprehensive insurance, protected [full] NCB , 2 named drivers, no points on licence after about 35 years of driving, and a second car - all with L&V [formerly Frizells]. Car kept on driveway; Disklok and tracker.

What is the collective opinion as to the best insurers? I really cannot face wandering around the Internet and would value opinions as to best quotes, best service etc.

Thanks in anticpation.

Club insurance panel member A Manning UK ltd (01491 578759) have been good since I went to them in January, allowed me to take out a limited milage policy, and then extend it for the difference to an unlimited. Parade laps at BH were covered without needing to ask, Track Days with PCGB are covered.
Friendly, helpful. Seems good so far. No idea when it comes to the "crunch", but don't want to have to find out either!

I used the following website www.confused.com which I think is run by admiral and goes out to about 20+ insurers "" who you then deal with direct(without re-entering the same info). It saved a lot of hassle for me. I ended going with Norwich Union Direct . £750 4yrs protected NCB aged 30. Social + commuting to one place of work. £270 excess.

www.moneysupermarket.co.uk or com officers similar I believe.

I have had to (unfortunately) claim on my Norwich Union policy v.recently and it was dealt with quickly by them and they referred me immediately to Porsche repairer without any problem.

I know insurance is a pain..I still phoned around but could not beat the original quotes from "˜confused' above.

Depends what you mean by best?

If you want the cheapest deal you have no option but to do the rounds as what is good one year can be 50% - 100% dearer the next.

I had a claim with Norwich Union Direct in the first year I had the car and they were great no hassle at all with them - shame about the official Porsche repair centre though.

This years best was via Adrian Flux with Royal & Sun Alliance.

Having gone through this exercise earlier this year I ended up going through APlan 01494 677776

Careful with the chearper insuraners like elephant, tesco, first alternative etc as they do NOT cover factory fitted options.

LV worked out to be the best package for me. Price against coverage, etc.

I could get it cheaper by 50-100 pounds but it was with insurers that didn't include certain things and seemed to be the "real cheap" options, not the best options. And of course there was the one that was cheaper then LV, but I won't do business with them on principle. I won't name them here and add to the tarnish that they have already received from the press.

Oh and LV were very good and sympathetic when I had my incident with the badger.[]
