Insurance - Good Deal?????

When I recieved my renewal quote for the Boxster S of £760 for 6000 Miles PA, I flung it in the back of the drawer and forgot about it.

At 6pm tonight, I realised that the insurance ran out at midnight!!!!

I rang around a few Co's.

The best I found was Adrian Flux, they offered me the same insurance for £450 - 6000 Miles PA. Admiral were £480.

I called about five other firms, they were all £750-£1000.

I asked Adrian Flux for a 10,000 Miles PA quote, they could only quote on an unlimited miles package - £550.

Admiral were offering 10,000 Miles PA for £530.

So, I took Adrian Flux, £550 for Unlimited Miles - 33yrs Old, Garaged, no Convictions.

What you guys think????[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Looks like you got a good deal. I have been paying almost double that for same car, age of driver, car garaged etc etc but then everyone knows its a postcode lottery! Acid test is when you make a claim. Having done so recently I reckon I have got my monies worth for a few years to come and have only good things to say about my insurers

...and the postcode lottery definitely favours the North; my insurance had almost doubled when I moved from Edinburgh to London (well, NW London) several years ago.

I think the AB15 postcode does help.

The only Trackers up here have chocolate and hazlenuts in them!

That sounds godly. I'm in the W4 post code area, mid 30, no convictions, driveway parking and Admiral bills in with around 950 (9,000 m/yr) for a 05 987S.

I hope you don't have any optional extras on that '05 987S because Admiral won't replace any of them other than metallic paint. Not only that, if you tell them you have any optional extras they'll raise your premium and still won't cover them. Same goes for most other 'cheap' insurers. I went through this with Admiral when I got my 986 last year and soon learned you have to ask what the insurer considers to be a modification, and make sure they specifically state that they will cover all manufacturer supplied options (None of the 'cheap' insurers did).

I'm aware of the pitfalls of cheap insurances but having moved recently from overseas with basically no claimsfree history to prove, my first interest is to reach a reasonable claimsfree bonus asap.. and then I'll shop for better insurances. When I called Porsche insurance this spring they quoted me app. 5,000 per year :)

To complete the story, I recieved a little Christmas present from Adrian Flux this morning in the form of a £110 refund towards my policy. Therefore, £440 now instead of £550.

This was due to the proofs of previous no claims bonus years being accepted.

Nice.. .. ..

Blimey! That really is a good deal - and I thought £600 fully comp/protected was good for my 997S!
Methinks Santa has indeed been early for you this year[:D]

I'm paying over £1,100 - aged 35, no convicions, underground garage in EC1 (City of London) but it's with Churchill who have confirmed that all the extras are covered, that there will be a new-for-old replacement in the event of a total loss in the first 6 months, covered in the EU (subject to other terms) and includes a second driver (35 yrs, g/friend with 3 points). As JC it's a post code lottery....

I would have though £600 for a 997S is a very competative quote! Want to expand on the particulars?

I just went back to Performance Marque and got the turbo insured with unlimited track days for £760 (both Manning and Aon quoted over £1100...)

Yes, the £600 was with a local company, and is for fully comp insurance with protected max no claims bonus on an AXA policy - no accidents or convictions, age 40 - and is exactly the same premium as for my old '05 Boxster S - which is nice.

The insurance is through a company called Rossborough Insurance, but the catch is that I live on Guernsey, where statistically it is a pretty safe place, and with a maximum speed of 35 (yes, thirty-five!!) mph there is little chance of a high speed shunt or any major damage. Unfortunately, I don't think Rossborough insure outside the Channel Islands.

That's why I try and get over to France as often as I can with my toy!

Just PCGB track days (heh, why would I want to go out with a bunch of Caterhams???) and 6000 miles per year.
