Insurance: Help!!

Hi can anyone help!! I'm about to buy a beautiful 944 pending on insurance. I'm 25, male and live in London so the fully comprehensive price is worth more than the car. I've got 4 years no claims on another classic, which I still own and have been driving without any penalties for 7 years.
Does anyone now any reasonable insurers who won't brand me a boy racer so I can buy the car of my dreams!!

Try Elephant - Sounds like a bizarre suggestion, but I bought my 924S when I was 25, I had no No Claims discount and the car was being parked on the street in SW London. I think I started off paying just under £1000 for the year (my only car, 7000 mile limit and included business use) this has dropped considerably over the last three years as I've built up my NCB.
All the other quotes I got at the time were £3k plus.

Hope this helps.

Great! Thanks for that. I live in SW and have to park on the street also. If I can get it for £1000 I'd be happy (ish) as I have heard that once you can prove you will look after such a car and not race it around, the next few years insurance goes down dramatically.

Thanks for your help

I've had my 911 parked in SW11 for the last six years (also from the age of 25) and have never had a problem with insurance and its always been below £1000. Have previously used Carole Nash, although they have limited mileage, 6000 I think. Then moved to Lancaster which has higher mileage and premium is currently around £800 fully comp. Hope this is of help, I did spend quite a bit of time ring round various insurers. Good luck

Hi just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who helped me on this insurance issue. After trying all of the suggestions plus many others, Elephant.co.uk worked out the best for me with a premium of £590 3rd party. Which although isn't cheap it will do until I can find a garage and get the cheaper classic car insurance.

So now I am a seriously excited 944 owner and will post photos soon.

Thanks once again,
Wesley
