Insurance Nightmare

My renewal has just arrived for my Boxster S and to my surprise my premium has risen by £1,600 pounds to £3,800 (Norwich Union). After shopping around I managed to reduce it to £1,475 through Swinton - Tel Number 08005871005.

The insurance companies on the PCGB site were competetive but I think because of my age could not quite compete.

Just thought I would post it up so hopefully someone will save 3 hours of repeating themselves.

Thanks for the info. I'll try them next time as well, although Adrian Flux were very competitive (£1,100). My details will of course differ from yours!
Dr B

Adrian flux were £2000 for me, but considering the majority were over £3000 I would say that is quite good.

26, but I think the area that I live in plays a big part. Apparently Bradford is the 3rd worse area in the UK for insurance scams. My other option was London as I have a residence in both areas but that was one of the worse for car theft.

I pay £400 with direct line

Are you sure you are covered?
A lot of the "direct" insurance companies don't insure optional extras, (but they charge you extra for the increased risk[&:]), and if you haven't declared them you run the risk of being uninsured if the worst happens.

Admiral seem to be the worst here[:'(]

Will check that out. The optional extras on my car would cost around £15,000 new. Got everything from the carbon pack to the roof module.

Cheer up lads ! It really does get better.
When you reach a venerable age you can insure THREE Porsches for just over £700-00, with agreed values as long as you don't do more than 15,000 miles a year between them, and that is with a speeding conviction of 102mph.[:)][:D][;)]

Who with ?
I have yet to find a genuinely competitive multi-car policy

Come on you two - you don't expect these youngsters to wait that long do you? [8D]

Hi John,
The question should be will they last that long, I can remember being shocked when I first realised having bought my first car a 1936 Rover 12 that having just spent £35 on it ,five weeks wages at the time that I now needed Insurance----- shock, horror, TPFT, £2 14 11d no instalments in those days, still I didn't have a licence so I didn't see the point in wasting money on that. Some years later with a licence I had a Wolseley 6/90 ex- police car and it cost £11 odd for fully comp.
Back to the future then,Supersport with Norton Heritage, the 944 Lux and 944 Cab with A.Manning always willing to shape your needs to suit you within reason.I am not sure about young bloods though.
Whilst on the subject of Insurance have you seen the current leaflet from AON,it shows what looks like a wheel from a Boxster, look closely at the disc and you will see what I mean---just joking !! See you at the Cotswold Rally?

I went with Porsche Insurance and paid around £500.00 which I thought was pretty good, they also didn't insist on a tracker although my car had one already fitted.

I would rather walk than use Norwich Union.....

I too have had a great experience with Adrian Flux. Always check with www.confused.com before you decide. Genuine search engine for the cheapest quote (I did some consulting work for them in the past and can assure you that they are independent).

Some eye opening remarks. Particularly that big names such as Admiral may not cover our precious cars properly. Too many small print get-out clauses these days. I spend half my time reading them when I sign up for something and the amount of crap I see is ridiculous. Although not directly car related, this illustrates a point: one of the Virgin companies (Virgin Wines, i think) was chastised recently by the Office of Fair Trading for illegal terms and conditions and these were amended. You really can't trust even the "big names". Caveat emptor.

Direct line remain the cheapest for me, all options covered, on street parking in Glasgow's west end albeit no track cover. all for just under a grand. Signiifcantly cheaper then Porsche specialists tho they do include track cover

I was with NUD for the first two years of ownership. Had a £6K prang when the car was just 9 months old. It was in the shop the next day. The only issues I had were with the OPC repair centre.

Adrian Flux all the way!
They were all quoting between £1300-£1500 for a MY03 Boxster S.
Im 26 but do have protected no cliams and 8 years of no cliams.
Service was great!!! Adrian Flux!! £888. Best around!!
Good luck
