Insurance Premium

Hi All.
I have been presented with an insurance renewal of £945 for my 996 C2 Cab, and I have full no claims bonus. I notice from this forum that some of you are paying much less. Can anyone suggest an insurance company with the aim of reducing my annual premium.
Thanks in anticipation.
Dave.

I pay about 2/3 that for my two 911s combined!

So many factors though - postcode, garaging, driving offences, age etc all conspire to bump up premiums,
as does the voluntary excess.

I get quotes every year from the usual companies advertising in the Porsche Post which you get as
a PCGB member.

I am with Carole Nash at present but shopping around is the key (comparing like with like).

I'm with Auto Direct. £315 for my Turbo Cab. I'm 38 years old. I have limited the mileage to 5k per year and I am an Advanced Driver.

Interestingly, when I added my 68 year old dad as a named driver recently ('cause he desperately to wanted to drive the car!) my premium went up to £384. Old boys in fast cars are obviously considered high risk! ;-)

Still good value though!

I'm currently using A-Plan incurance, they seem to get very good deals and as a broker they search for the best. Last year I was underwritten by Aviva, this year its changed to ABC Insurance. I'm paying about £600 per annum.

Cheers

Does your 5k limit per year stipulate that you don't commute or have any business use? That can save a fortune but does limit use.

Having a tracker seems to make a big difference with some policies too.

Careful with the ageism though I'm in my 60's, have no limited mileage or other restriction, no advanced driver qualifications (and no tracker) and pay £480 for my C4. The SC with 3000 mile limit and agreed insured value is £180. Both include the usual legal protection, roadside recovery and European travel.

Ive gone with adrian flux, they arent a company but a broker. I pay 1200 with breakdown and if i had a tracker fitted it only saved £100 so i didnt bother, however someone i work with has just bought an x5 and his premium went from 600 to 400 with one so i guess its pretty much dependant on the company you go with.

+1 for mannings, and you get to speak to a real person!

5000 miles per year, me and wife to drive ( both early 40's), unlimted trakday cover (excess 10% of cars value), normal excess £500
no commuting or business use, but we both have other cars, got to be gargaed when at home after 10pm, country postcode, no points for me, 3 for the wife (not in the GT3)

Less than £500.00

Just renewed premium for 2002 C4S with A Plan(Aviva) and paying £399.00. Limited to 6000 miles and garaged. Self and wife to drive.

I use Privilege for my 2004 Turbo, it went up to £500 this year from £400 last, but I think that all companies had to increase their premiums recently. I'm 52 by the way and have a tracker, but the car is not garaged and it can be used for business/commuting etc.

Hi,
With Classic Line, fully comp, EXS £350, limited to 5000 miles, garaged & pleasure only, aged 64 no convictions but in a Greater London post code @ £546.

Try Adrian Flux (Aviva). I have been with them for 2 years now. This year it was £340 (up from £320) for an 03 C2 Tip Coupe. Annual mileage of 7K, Eu cover etc. Drawbacks are they give no discount for Tracker and a hire car (if one needed for a Service and the OPC/Indy wont/cant provide) costs £27 for day 1 plus an extra £10/day thereafter.

However try all the insurance companies in the Porsche Post and make sure you get the cover you want and not what they want to give you. Track days are never free - it is buried in the premium somewhere - owt for nowt. Postcodes and age have a major impact on premiums as does use other then SD&P.

I am 55, my 1998 C2 Tip S with 6,000 miles per year. Car on drive. renewal quote from Privelege was over £600 for fully comp, double the premium of my previous 1997 Boxster. So I shopped around using Compare.com etc. and got the best from the Post Office at just over £300 with £500 excess. Pays to shop around.

There's an insurance sticky on the forum which should give you a good idea.

I'm with Swiftcover, not the cheapest quote I got, but I paid for convinience. You just have to shop around on the usual comparison sites, then call to see if you can get a better deal, nine times out of ten most insurers have a bit of room to play with even if the quote is very competitive.

Try admiral multi car policy.
they were very competitive with a solo quote about £540 then added the wifes slk brought my premium down to £440 then added my little runabout ford escort brought the premium down to £340 wow happy days
they were very competitive on all the cars but the discounts to the porsche were exellent paid about £750.00 for all three cars and its easy to do you just promise to add your vehicles as the insurance becomes due for the period needed to bring all 3 policies in line
10000 per year
not garaged
no tracker
sdp and bussines
full no claims protected.
kind regards
mick
forgot to mention my wife had a accident in the slk in the snow and admiral so far have been very good with the claim so fingers crossed.

As dij999 said at the top. it depends on so many factors including age, mileage, location etc. You are also almost bound to get a better deal when switching to a new insurer- who will then often bump up the premium the 2nd year ('brand new customers only' )

My 2004 C4 in rural Essex doing 13k per year and parked on the driveway is currently £450 with Sheilas Wheels. £500 Excess. I'm 56, never any points or fault claims, and use the car as my main transport including business use.

Adrian Flux wanted £650 and NFU Mutual £950. Direct Line and eSure would not quote unless a tracker was fitted (which is odd because eSure and Sheilas Wheels are the same company!)

So- shop around and be prepared to change each year!

Yes i do with mannings, they increase the excess to 10% of car value whilst on track, unlimited use, including Spa

Give them a try

Spoke to someone at Castle Combe in October and he had paid over £200.00 just to cover his car for the day

i went to Marsh Ltd, a broker, and i was quoted £446 for just me or £392 if i added the wife (work that one out!!!).
I'm 58, car is garaged at night, no convictions, 15K miles + 2 track days included with £430 excess.........that was last February............just waiting this years quote!
Very nice lady got it sorted for me....Christine.a.king@marsh.com
