Insurance question?

I found Admiral very competitive (I have a multi-car policy) paid less than £190 for my CR - although I', over 50 with a clean record and max no claims [8|]

I'm with Liverpool Victoria - single car policy. Mine is £320, but as you know there are lots of factors, and a postcode lottery. To be honest, I don't think the model makes too much difference. My 996 Turbo was cheaper to insure than my 996 Carrera, and it is a common experience. Probably because there are less around, generally lower usage, and a resulting lower claims history. Best bet is to go to a comparison site, get the best result, and then go to the companies who don't list on the comparison site. Also try Saga - my brother just got a cracking price on his Jag XJ. LV and Saga seem keen to get the business at the moment.

I have a member with a new GTS would like to know best insurance company, he is older.

I I would say Locktons but they are not so competative with new cars.

If your Member plans to do any track days then ClassicLine and Manning UK are worth a look. Otherwise it's probably worth trying the usual comparison sites to get a competitive quote. Watch out though for the policy T&Cs when it comes to repairs to make sure that the insurer doesn't impose unreasonable restrictions.

Not so competitive with ‘older’ cars either, in my opinion... (they’re still geared up for Aston Martins which never see the light of day from one year to the next[&o]).

ClassicLine are good, particularly if you want to be certain of proper Agreed Values.

I have a Cayman GTS I use Marsh they do Porsche insurance, tel 0845 600 6502 I found them very good and have used them for approx. five years , good luck Graham

Been quite happy with Locktons on value. Saved money the first year, effectively got the 944 for free. Not do sure on the attitude though.

Even if not doing track days it might be wise to insure with a company who provides track day cover such as those above, rather than LV who I am with.

My reasons for saying this are that the TVR Car Club recently had an event at the Millbrook Proving Ground for which attendees needed liability insurance even though it was not a track day. LV said they wouldn't cover me because it was an 'off road' event on private property whereas people insured with Manning UK were told that they would be covered. If Porsche Club GB were to organise a similar event members might find that insurers such as LV, Admiral, etc may not cover them.

It depends on so many things mainly down to what driving he wants to do, as others have said for track use, some are better than others and for continental touring use then Saga include virtually unlimited time as many trips as you wish provided the car is not abroad for more than a month at a time, however, Saga do not provide track cover so a tour of the circuits across Europe would not go down well!

A note concerning Locktons, their representative told us at Cornbury House that all of their policies cover track day use but that the Nurburgring is not covered!
