Insurance question

I have my 88 targa on an agreed value policy with Hagerty. Value is £50K, mileage is 3K/year and cost roughly £450/year including breakdown cover.

You can get an Admiral multi-car policy for less but you may struggle to get a decent pay-out if the car is written off. The Hagerty policy is a true agreed value policy - hence the cost. Hope to never test it though!

My '89 Cab is also insured through Hagerty (along with several other classics).

I agree with IndischRot above that it is important (no, vital!!) you get your car insured for an agreed value, and Hagerty, unlike most other brokers, don't require photos etc.

So far, I've found them excellent although I haven't had to have a claim yet (fortunately!!)

Reckon on around £400 - £500 depending on mileage, post-code, garging etc.

Peter, have you had the potential purchase inspected by an independent specialist??

hi guys,
im about to pull the trigger on a gorgeous 89 targa in amazing condition that really is something else. I'm keeping a diesel golf going for really long journeys but I plan on driving the 911 a huge amount.
Was wondering what I would expect to pay in insuranc on the Porsche?
this will obviously be a second policy, I am 41,male and have years of no claims. Can anyone give me a ball park of what I would expect to pay?
Thanks in advanc and apologies if I've posted in wrong section
cheers
pete

My '88 Coupe is insured with Lockton. Agreed value £50k, 5000 miles / year, comprehensive UK and Europe breakdown cover, PCGB trackday cover, repairs up to full value of the car (none of those 'not an economical repair' shennanigens) and great customer service.

Approx £350 per year. A valuation from John Glynn @ferdinandmagazine is £30 well spent.

Most importantly, welcome to Carrera 3.2 ownership, the ultimate itteration of Ferry Porsche's original design brief - you'll love it!

Of course, I forgot to mention that Lockton are partners to, and great supporters of, PCGB

Hi Pete

As said its mileage dependent and your postcode can have quite an effect.

most of us tend to have limited mileage policies of 3-5k which may not be enough if as you say you're going to use it a lot. Been with a number of insurers over the years .(Lockton, Flux etc are Brokers)

Im through Heritage at the moment, agreed value of £35k 3000 miles £220 pa .

Enjoy the new acquisition...pics please.

Really? I have to submit photos every 3 years. No formal valuation needed though.

Just to confirm, Hagerty have never requested photos for the agreed value for my classic cars, the 911 being the 'least valuable'.
