Insurance Quote - HAD A GOOD ONE?

I nearly had a bloody heart attack when I got my quote from Mannings! Over £1100 !!!!

Swinton came up with a similar price - but get £300 cash back after 3 months.

Same old story - I'm afraid there's no substitute for shopping around each year and doing a bit of research. I've just renewed, and found the best deal for me was with Adrian Flux. Can't remember the exact price, was around £520 (age 42, Fully comp, parked on drive, 5000 miles per year.)

I agree it seems that insurance companies are in the habit of pushing out inflated renewals especially where continuous Direct Debits are in place, expecting some not to query the increase and just pay up. I rang and complained about the hike and they were able to reduce the quote by 300 pounds with no change in company or coverage.

Try Academy Insurance. I've been with them for 3-4 years now, every year I shop around, every year they are the cheapest, and they drop their premiums every year!

i used direct line £530 with me with 3 points and the wife as a named driver with 3 points, i was pleasantly suprised. althrough i was disappointed with the fact that a tracker did not give me any extra discount

I went through confused.com or whatever, best quote for 3.2S was £430 through Endsleigh as brokjer and Aviva as insurer.

As this issue affects every single one of us (can't think a Porsche owner would not take out insurance) it might be a good idea to have/set up a specific subject thread for Insurance in the General section of the Forum, what do people think?

There's one already running in the 996 section, but I'm not sure how much help it can be (other than providing insurance company names). Everyone's circumstances are different and the postcode lottery always applies.

And what you pick for a job description too!

FWIW I'm switching to Manning in July.

Admiral multi car policy .....Boxster 2.7 2006 Ford Ka 1.3 2004 MB 230 CLK 2001 ..grand total £563 for them all .
I believe the Boxster was £230 on its own

Thinking that it would be cheaper to insure my car, I said that it was 'garaged overnight', only to find out that it was cheaper to insure it as 'parked overnight on driveway'. Apparently there are more accidents, scratches, dents etc while driving in and exiting a garage. Maybe one to remember!

I tried for a few hours today, best I could get was £606 with Esure, Adrian Flux came to £990 , strange as they do my GT3RS and that's only £700. I have 6 points, slowing down a lot now

Hi - surprisingly I have both cars with Porsche insurance. Great service, guaranteed Porsche to drive if any any accidents and fully comp with all the trimmings.

Boxter on 12k a year and two drivers £390

Speedster on 4K and one driver £320.

My insurance is due on my car - anyone had a good quote of late?

Well I actually had to get two quotes

My Boxster S £385

And my 911 - 993S £337

It does not make sense why a 993 is less than a Boxster - have told them to re look at the Boxster quote.

Both quotes from Nowell and Richards

Adrian Flux

Have to agree Adrian Flux gave best quote after spending day and a half with named insurers offering rip -off quotes.
Got £420 from Adrian Flux with no No Claims and 5000mls and garaged.

Better still the whole experience was very positve and company was knowledgable and helpfull.
Gets my recommendation.

Hi

I have just switched from Adrian Flux to Mannings saved nearly 30%. In addition you get track day, european cover thrown in.

I had my 993 insured on a classic policy through Adrian Flux for 2 years but this year (end of February) they told me that they couldn't offer a classic policy and their quote for a 'normal' policy was for £100 more than last year but with a higher excess. Not too bad I suppose bearing in mind that I only had 2 years NCB to use having lost my max NCB when switching to the classic policy.

I phoned Lancacters as they had given a presentation at R24 last year and they gave me a classic policy that matched the previous one from Adrian Flux with agreed value, full Euro use and breakdown, etc., for £100 less than I had paid in 2010.

My premium was just over £400 with a clean record so more than yours, John, with a lower value, but perhaps my AL1 postcode is more highly rated than your Cambridge one. My big problem is that I cannot be bothered to spend all day phoning around so I only spoke to Lancasters!

John, I thought that you were with Lancasters(?).

My Porsche/Mars/Aviva renewal arrived today and its gone up to just a tad under £700 (helped of course by the Government hiking insurance premium tax, as if the other reasons for rises aren't enough). But I'm switching to Mannings anyway for the track day coverage.
