Insurance quote joke

Last yr i noticed a small indentation on my bumper about six inches long and only slightly pressed in , no damage to the paint at all. it looked like i had reversed in to something and not noticed. porsche approved repairer said it was best to have a new one couldnt repair well because it was plastic. paid excess of £650 and the total cost was about £1k. insurance renewal has now come at £750!!! more than last year. Total rip off by RAC insurance. anyone recommend where i can get a reasonable quote. i have pictures of the 'damage' its tiny. i have protected no claims and no claims for a number of years before this. no points on licence etc etc. total and utter rip off. any advice welcome on a fair insurer.

These two should give you some ideas![;)]

The Porsche approved repairer lied to you. They always prefer to replace than repaint. Work on a bumper is easy to fix and Chipsaway or any reputable paint shop would have done the job for less than £200.(Been there, done that)
Water under the bridge.

Try Academy Insurance (brokers)- incredibly cheap, and have been a delight to deal with over the years. I've recomended them to several other PCGB members and they have almost always come up trumps.

Thanks both

Knocked £350 of it so far with Adrian Flux

will try academy tomorrow

Any other suggestions gratefully received

I agree with you about the RAC rip off.

My wifes BMW 320d is now almost £700 to insure this time with them!

It's my own fault as I didn't look at it when it automatically renewed, only when we had the cover for three weeks. I could have cancelled it but in total it would have cost us £250 to do that! Rip off.

Like I said it's my own fault for not paying attention and trying to cancel late they have got me by the short and curlys! NO real choice but to learn from this and move on somewhere else next year.

A quick look on the price comparison web sites and most insurers would have done it for half the price!

Of course when I said this the the RAC they said that the comprehensive insurance was really comprehensive and that the others weren't anywhere near as good ??????

Last time I insure with these Dick Turpins!

with regard to insurance, I searched through confused.com and other comparison websites. Best I got for my 3.2S, including declaring a simialr damage to my rear bumper last year, was £450. That was through Endsliegh, as an agent.

I tried all of the supposeded recommended companies list in Porchse Post and 911&Porsche magazines - most were very much higher.

Quote also depends on your annual mileage and excess that you are prepared to accept. Fitting a Tracker Retriev helped to bring down.
