this topic keeps coming back round, so I apologise in advance

at the moment I pay £650 with tesco on an ordinary policy

the other day I thought I'd ring round all the specialist brokers in the back of the porsche mags ( 911 & Porsche World and the club mag), and I have been quoted (through brokers) £450 and £250, both on classic policies and limited to 5,000 miles per year (which is fine).

I can't beleive the £250 quote - it just seems to good to be true. The insurer is Equity Red Star. Do you think there would be a catch somewhere. Is it a case of you pay for what you get?

what do you think?

Do you have another car as a a main car, as most classic policies are issued on this basis. Apart from that check the small print as to any other useage restrictions and you should be fine

Paul's right. At the moment I pay £900 for a year round green card, and £120 for my TR8 on a classic policy. The TR8 doesn't get me any bonus, and is a second car.

My insurance is £270 with usual classic stuff, garaged, limited milage, don't earn any no claims bonus etc.

I insured with Equity Red Star through R H Specialist Car Division ( back of PP ) and had no problems claiming the full declared value despite my car being written off inside one month .
Can't fault them !

thanks - as it happens the quote is through R H so i will probably run with that and save myself lots of money !

I'm with RH, with a claim going through at the moment.

You deal direct with Equity Red Star once the claim is in progress and they are very efficient. I had to call back a while ago, and didn't know who I'd spoken to only a couple of hours previously, but whoever I got through to the second time had all the details of the conversation on his screen and picked it up from there. Very professional. very efficient.

When I renewed back in April one broker told me they can't touch RH's quotes at the moment. He didn't know how they did it, but from my experience they aren't cutting any corners in the service they provide.
