Insurance quote

Looking to get a second car for everyday use and keep the 964 for weekends and fun.
Any suggestions as to an insurance company that would insure both cars or one that would provide a semi classic insurance as my car sits on the drive and not in a garage which most companies want?

Thanks

Steve,

You could try Liverpool Victoria, not sure about semi classic insurance though. They will insure both cars and will take into account no-claims discount for both vehicles. Nothing to loose give them a call .... [;)]

my 1992 carrera 4 / 964 is insured by A-Plan ,
it is on modern insurance but 5000 miles per year,
parked on drive ,no - no claims because its my second car ,but they allowed me an introductory discount
£450 fully comp ! for me and wife to drive.
i was amazed.
maybe it is better to insure 2 cars seperately ?

norton heritage, through PCGB 3k/yr track cover, european breakdown, legal assist etc £412 garaged.

Norton Heritage requires the car to be garaged, this I don't have.
I'm with Mayfair at the moment and they have quoted me for 3K/yr on drive me/wife £325.00 fully comp.
But to insure the MG TF they want £550 because you can't use your full no claims on two cars???

Still looking at the mo.

admiral multicar appears to be a con costing the same as two insurance policies, however might be worth a look.. otherwise try liverpool victoria as above; used them over the winter when i had a cheap car and the porsche was in storage and insured on 3pf&t with zero mileage allowance and they were cheap

Well they insure mine and it's not garaged. I have been totally upfront with them about this - they initially quoted me a renewal that was about £50 lower until I spotted that they had it down as garaged. My daily driver (boxster) is insured with Performance Marque and has a Million* years no claims, NH just mirror the boxster no claims on the 964 (and it's slowly building up its own no claims).

*I can't remember the actual figure but it's a lot due to me getting on a bit [;)]

I bet they still quote you double what you paid last year each time it comes to renewal time!..

I have a different problem from the garaged / un-garaged one, which is that companies won't give me an off road / laid up policy for the winter as im under 35 years old, yet they will happily insure me to drive about in the car..

morons [:D]

You're almost right. PM quoted more for the boxster renewal. I told them I would look elsewhere and 3 phone calls later they ended up giving me a premium that was LESS than the previous year's premium. I prefer to call them....

....glorified bookmakers! [:D]

Mine's a 1990 C4 cabrio with Norwich Union bought through Performance Insurance. 5K miles, no NCB (used it on another car) fully comp for £250 but hefty excess of £500. Could have reduced excess to £250 for an extra £30 on the premium. Has to be garaged and alarmed though. Thought I'd done pretty well with that....but then I'm possibly a little older than you chaps [:)]

I tried Norton Heritage again but they would not quote me as the car isn't garaged.

Thought I might try a fleet insurance scheme, see how that pans out?

Anyone else done this?

Yes I have but they were too expensive.
I can't believe i'm having to pay more for a 1.6 MG TF than my 964???

Sorry to hear that. From what you folks are saying it looks like i'm not getting as good a deal as i first thought. Think i'll start making some enquiries my self !!

I've just insured my 964 C2 90' for under £200 with A Plan. I also have another car with them, so that might help. No need to garage the 964. Other one has to be though.

I have just bought a 964 celebration and was pleasantly surprised by a quote from classic line for £250 fully comp with only £250 excess - includes club track days! This is for only 1,500 mile per year so not for the more regular users.

Have you tried CIS Insurance ? I use them as best quote I can get ,I pay £417 (instalments) or £377 (one payment).for that I get CIS Road rescue, protected no claims 6,000 annual miles and £150 excess.
That is driver only though, and garaged while at insurance address, I do know that there is a garaged/driveway option in the quote process so I hope it is of interest to you.

Steve 964
