Insurance quotes

Anyone with any recent good experience of insurance quotes.

My quote this year from liverpool vic has gone up from 330 to 560!

3.2 carrera used almost every day, age 33 full ncb, clean licence

Worth trying Norwich Union Direct. You may not end up quite as happy as their adverts might have you believe, but their rates aren't too bad and it's usually cheaper buying cover direct from them rather than going through a broker.

If you get a cheaper quote than Liverpool Vic 's renewal price then it maying worth telling them to see if they will reduce your premium to keep your business - Norwich Union have done this for me each year for the past three years.

No sorry.. looks like your paying for their own mistakes... My renewal at the end of last year, for a modified 3.2, 5 years ncd, 10k miles and 6 points with Liverpool Victoria was £161..!![:D] Have since found out this was down to a computer error... but they are honouring it... God help me at my next renewal..![8|]

Greetings
I've just renewed mine on the 23/2 and found PRIVILEGE (0845.246.0303) to be the most competitive. In fact a few of the other insurance company's were admitting that PRIVILEGE were the most aggressive in the market at the moment! And I did phone 16 other company's !
My car is a 1985 coupe, I'm 54, NO points (honest guv.), 7 years N.C.D.(protected), living in N.W. London, parked on own driveway, CAT 2 Immobiliser, Sports Exhaust and K&N Air Filter (approx 8% b.h.p. extra?) Unlimited mileage, used every day for business as well! Only £527.10. And thats with £1000 stereo cover!
She made me HAPPY, (steady now).[:D]
Give them a try, let me know what you come up with.
Cheers for now

I am only interested in cover that includes Club trackdays. Anyone care to comment on whether the policies noted cover trackdays? I suspect not.

I have insured through Peart as they seem to be the only crowd that will touch a 911 in London parked on the street. Now that I am moving to Kent and will have a garage I have asked for a requote and they have dropped from nearly £1100 to £775. Remembering, that I am 33, no points, max protected NCD and the car is modified. Seemed expensive, so I checked with Norton, for a Heritage policy (they send a flyer with the club mag so I thought they were worth a try) and got it down to £505 with free UK and Europe breakdown cover, club trackdays (including Spa) and 3000 mile annual limit. It has a 25% loading for sympathetic modifications so a std car might get down to say £375 which seems about as good as anyone can get.

I get easily bored with phoning insurance companies - I could never follow thru with 16 companies! - so does this really sound as good as it gets?

Another thing, the Heritage or classic policies take no account of NCD so I can apply it to our second car (that currently costs too much for what it is) which only gets the benefit of my wife's 2 years NCD.

Cheers,
Richard

I have a couple of older 911s on Heritage policies and for premiums at least I can't fault them (911SC, fully comprehensive, limited mileage - annual premium: £145). The downside though is that they exclude anything to do with business driving, including commuting so they really are only for high days and holidays.

Richard

Norwich Union don't cover trackdays.

AON do, but wanted a Thatcham 1 alarm fitted, were £150 per year more than NU & charge £75 per track day, but won't cover non UK days.

A Manning were £300 per year more than NU, but include Porsche Club Trackdays at no extra fee.

So if anybody wants to spin on a trackday this year - pleeeeease not in front of me.

My car is insured with Performance Marque. 89 3.2 17k agreed value but limited milage £335.
You could try PCGB this months Porsch Post has 'special' members insurance. could be worth a call.

ended up with adrian flux.

440 quid. (better than the 560 renewal but not as good as last years 360)

turns out its the lack of cat 1 alarm that's made the difference.(and a lot of firms won't even quote, if fitted it would be around the 360 mark)

Had some quotes to get it fitted (400 quid). So going to leave it until the summer and enjoy cheaper renewal next year.

Hi Guys
I'm with Heritage from Norton, Track day cover, breakdown UK/Europe, 6000 miles and all for £308 and I'm only 19! Just joking, I'm 46. Car is standard. Thatcham 1 fitted.

Glen

Have you checked the 'small print' on the track day cover? I ask because recent posts suggested that most companies were withdrawing this, or making it so conditional that it wasn't worth having. I gave up trying on my last renewal.

£296 with carole nash on a classic policy with 6k mileage limit. No points or convictions, garaged with cat 1 alarm/immobil and vehicle is LHD.
Ian

Got the SC for £260 with AON now unlimited mileage as the car is 20 years old. But has to be garaged when at home and only used for work twice a week. On the alarm front getting a thatcham alarm fitted can be done cheaper if you fish around.

To be honest I haven't checked with Heritage to see if track day cover is still valid, but I will and I'll post their response in this forum.

Cheers, Glenn.

Blimey, I've just finished several days of phoning around and I couldn't believe the jump in cost since last year. The cheapest I've been able to find is
  • £666 (yes, really!) : JigSure, giving me 10k mileage, 5-years no-claims protected, SDP+Commute, £600 excess, parked private property
  • £743 : Norwich Union Direct, giving me 12k mileage, 5-years protected no-claims, SDP+C, £750 excess, parked private property
  • £900+ : most of all the others I called
What on earth is going on?!!!! Unfortunately, I'll have to just take the cheapest I can find by the end of Saturday, so I'm going to have to be brave....

John

If anybody gets a lousy quote from AON point out that you use the forum and will be spreading the word and as they want to make a song and dance about sponsoring the club to the tune of £15,000 they should provide premiums that match or better their competitors or they are wasting their money.

Well, in the end, the cheapest cover I could get this time around is through Adrian Flux at £631.50. This gives me unlimited mileage (hooray!!) with business use, £550 excess, without a garage, Thatcham 1 alarm/immobiliser, protected no-claims, legal and accident cover too.

After phoning through 19 companies, most of which were advertised in the usual Porsche magazines, it's substantially less than the next-best quote, which had mileage limited to 10k and an excess of £750.
