Insurance renewal nightmare

All,

Just had my renewal quote through from my insurer (Liverpool Victoria) - 66% HIGHER than last year - and i've had no claims (bar 1 windscreen) or accidents since the last renewal - double checked with them - and aparently this is the best they can do...

Any recommendations as to who to call next?

Cheers,

Justin

Classic Line are charging me peanuts so give them a try, sorry i haven't a number. Do a search on the web. Know that i said that they'll probably be more expensive. Let me know how you get on.

My brother had EXACTLY the same problem with Liverpool Victoria last month. Apparently they have "re-rated" the 996. He searched everywhere, and the AA was the best bet for him. Just one thing he suggested - when you do an online quote, make sure that the alarm details register and show on the final screens. He didn't notice that it hadn't registered, and phoned the AA when the policy documents came through. They refunded him £52. Eventual nett cost was £820 for 49y/o, SL6, 6pts, 6+yrs No Claims, Protected NCB, 20000 miles, business use, garaged, etc, etc, etc. (LV had shot up from £750 to £1200).

Excellent thanks guys - no idea why they would re-rate the 996 - have they all of a sudden become more steal-able?

Exactly the same as my experience as I have had this week.

Renewal in thepost Monday at £1250 with LV (last year £850), now having shopped around I now have a quote like for like from Barclays @ £850 fully comp on a 2003 996 C2 cab. Didn't even bother to ring LV to see if they could reduce the premium, why throw away more money?

Privilege have been the best for me over the last few years apart from this year when Adrian Flux proved MUCH cheaper.

Also try Chris Knott, used them recently - very helpful and best price. When I had a BIG WRITE OFF they paid out top money and quickly!

LV also increased my premium by 48%, went with A Manning ltd for less that last years, with PCBG track cover...

A Manning have been mentioned a few times - can anyone please give me their contact details (trawled this months Porsche Post and the web with no success)...

Thanks!

Try Admiral, Got my 996 Cabrio Insured for £ 200.00 less than Privledge wanted.

Also try getting quoted through www.confused.com

Performance Marque quoted my renewal slightly cheaper than last year. First time ever I've paid less with the same broker - it's always gone up and I've always had to change brokers to get a cheaper quote.

Confused.com couldn't beat the quote either.

I went with Admiral last year who were very competitive with a lower compulsary excess to !!
Mine is due mid June so it will be interesting to see what they are quoting this year.

LV are trying to get out of the performance car market. You could do worse than Porsche Insurance; your OPC will have a brochure. It's brokered by Marsh Private Clients, on behalf of Porsche GB, and uses a bespoke Norwich Union policy that is not available on the open market. Give it a try; you might be surprised just how cheap it is and the additional cover offered beyond the mainstream or Internet based insurers.

Got a quote yesterday from Tesco - £785 with protected NCB compared to £1121 without from LV. Tesco's give 10% discount for on-line booking. Having played around with the parameters on their web-site if you have less than 2 yrs NCB they won't quote on-line and you have to call. Website is pretty easy as well and doesn't ask too many seemingly irrelevant questions.

Lots of quotes today:-

Directline £934
Churchill £863
Peart £837
Admiral £826

But Adrian Flux ........... £653 [:)][:)][:)]

I was amazed that the mention of the 996 Sports Package pushed the quotes up from Admiral & Churchill by over 10%

Had to question Adrain Flux quote twice, but they assured me its right and the fact I have owned previous PORSCHES help (according to them)

Suggest some of you try Adrain Flux 08700 777888

Privilege have adverts out at the moment GUARANTEEing to beat your last policy amount.

£653 with Adrian Flux is rather good tho for a 996. Blimey[:)]
