Chris,

I see you have tried Direct Line, but did you do it on the phone or over the internet?

Reason I ask is that I took out insurance with them for my 993 C4 in August and the quote was £400 limited to 10K miles/annum from the internet site. The prices do vary as they quoted for my other car at £550 over the phone and that is a MG ZTT[&:]

Hiya William , I actually read a previous post of yours re the internet prices and took your advice and quoted online , they where reasonably conpetitive on price but not as good as my current insurer ..

Interestingly a couple of insurers told me that my quote is quite high because Ive only owned the car a few months and therefore have no history of performance cars ... 944 S2 and Supra must count therefore as a 1.0 Picanto [&:]

Chris, Have you tried Sainsbury's car insurance? I've got both my A4 Avant & 993 Targa through them and nobody comes close to their prices ? Although I had 9 year NCD on the A4 I wasn't entitled to any NCD for the 993 - as an existing customer of Sainsbury's they offered my an introductory 30% NCD on the 993. For both cars they've been £100's cheaper than anyone else.

Worth a call or a click.

Also .... www.confused.com is well worth the time and effort ....

I managed to save around £600 this year by using the site. I think for me the premiums had in general come down (penalty points outside of the time window) and second year of 993 ownership without claim, but I found a wide spectrum of quotes when looking. My renewal quote was £1370 - confused.com came back with the cheapest at just over £700 with better cover.

Your details are saved for subsequent years on the confused site, and the quotes it gets from the insurers are saved on the respective sites, so you only have to key your details in once.

I'm surprised the major insurance companies have signed up to it.

I just insured via confused.com- most impressive site (so far!) and massively cheaper than my current PCGB insurer.

One does worry a bit about the 'quality of cover', but looks fine on the face of it.

Anybody about to renew their insurance should try Swiftcover.com.

I have my wifes car with them and thought I would see how much the 993 would cost. Well it came out at a staggering £300 for 7K miles/annum and £200 excess. The only downside is that they require the fitting of a tracker device.

don't suppose they have a view towards track days ? [&:]
