I know it's a well worn subject but has anyone got suggestions of a company or broker for my son (age 25) with a Cayman 2.7? Thought now he'd passed the magic 25 age that the premium would plummet, but no evidence so far!

A. Manning quote best so far with Allianz, beating Insure your Motor's renewal through Haven.
Both over a grand though.

Thanks, have noticed some poor reviews for Elephant in the past on claims, but will give them a call anyway.

Elephant are Admiral anyway. I had a claim through Elephant and although it didn't go my way (equal fault instead of not my fault), it was only because the other side lied about what happened and we had no independent witnesses.... So, all in all Elephant have been very good. They also are £1200 for me instead of £4-5k which everyone else wanted! A very valuable tip... when trying Admiral or Elephant, I can guarantee that having an older person as a named driver (i.e. Dad or Mum) lowers the premium substantially. I am 29 years old and naming my 60 year old mum has always saved me around £800! Try even having 2 older named drivers, that will save even more... You can see the effect on the price in real time as you enter the details online... Let us know how you get on... Jack

Just check with any of the Admiral brands (incl Elephant, Bell etc) that your optional extras are covered. Yes, even factory fit options such as metallic paint, wheels, lights, Bose, whatever. You might be surprised by the answer....

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... i dont know if my mum could get in the porsche let alone drive it[:D]

Also, Admiral do a multi car policy which saved my wife and I over £400 (on top of the previous elephant prices). It allows separate no claims etc but saves money if all cars in the household are on one bill...

Another insurance company I can recommend is Performance Insurance. I switched to them this year as they saved me around £100.00. They advertise in PP, and state ins premium for a Cayman S of £395.00 with an xs of £500.00. Although I live in the outskirts of London, and have no tracker, there actual quote was £0.50 different from the published figure...not toooo bad methinks[:)]

Alan They never bothered to call back with a price after I gave them my details. Bit disappointing tbh.

I have been with a firm called Performance Insurance (08444 935710) for 4 years now.. They have been excellent on price, but I can't tell you about claims because luckily I haven't had to claim. GoCompare.com MoneySupermarket.com and Confused.com have all provided really competitive quotes and I typically ask my insurer to price match In my first year they included track day cover, but sadly I have never needed it :(

And if you can wait until Monday I can give you the direct contact details of the individual I deal with there Cheers Charanpal

Yup, done and dusted- he went with Haven who moved a bit on price and they included two named drivers, one under 25, for £50. Useful for Le Mans trip! As always it is difficult to compare apples with apples, as you say some include track days, others are sticky on the value of extras, some load the excess, some will reduce premiums with an older driver added, others add to it. Still, thanks for the advice all.
