Insurance (track day)

early 911

Yes that time of year again . . but this year I'm looking to cover the Silverstone trackday also (plus maybe Snetterton later in the year).

Called a firm called Autotorque http://www.autotorque.co.uk/ and they quoted me £275 fully comprehensive for 12 months and unlimited track days here and abroad (at an extra £25 a pop) . . . urm, that seems cheap??? Doesn't it? They reckon the policy is underwritten by Allianz Cornhill. £1000 excess on track days and £250 otherwise. Agreed value. Limited to 4000 miles p.a. I'm 33 with no points, convictions etc.

My insurance is up for renewal anyway - with RH Specialist at £280 . . . . that policy is for 5000 miles and had the added avantage of europe breakdown and legal expenses cover.

Anyone else heard of us used Autotorque (mentioned on piston head)

Phil,

Um, no [:D]

Word of caution - if you think some insurers are bad at paying out in the, unlikely, event of an incendent - they're doubly difficult on a trackday.

Try Eggar Lawson / Competition Car Insurance in Nottingham who are a specialist track insurer - may cost a few quid more for one days cover, cheap in the long run.

Also A Manning seem to have a good reputation and their Porsche policy is underwritten by Allianz as well. Might be worth a call to them although they tend to includce the cost of trackcover in the basic price (ie do not charge per track day).

Ian.

I'm with Sun Alliance via Performance Marque and they cover up to 5 PCGB trackdays per year, plus pay for your PCGB subscription for the first year you are with them

Not on a classic policy, and have business use included, so the premiums are not directly comparible, but they seem pretty competitive

cheers

Tried Competition Car insurance first - £220 [:(] . . . might as well get a years worth. Will try Manning.

Hi, try AON ,in the porsche post mag. They offer up to 4 free track day cover with their policies ,usual ex £1000 etc and they pay out quite quckly(personal experience) Brett

Aon won't quote unless you've been on a trackday before - counts me out.

Waiting to here from Manning (01491 578 759).

Fed up with looking so went with autotorque - it's doesn't take no claims bonus into account (as classic policy), has a 2nd named driver, track days included etc, etc . . . they answered the phone and I like Matthew on the other end of the phone. £275 (plus the £25 for the July track day)

Phil

Phil,

Been with Heritage for years, covers track days, you just need to let them know the dates, and excess goes to £750. Enjoy yourself at Silverstone, did this in the wet around 4 years ago.
