Insurance Valuation

Hi

How do I go about getting a valuation done for insurance purposes?
Never had to do one before but the new insurance company wants one.

Thanks

Rob

Rob,

I went to our local OPC (Silverstone), asked to see the Dealer Principal and asked him if he would give me a letter stating the estimated value. TBH he then asked me what I wanted it to be worth!! 10 minutes later I had the letter.

I've used a letter from Silverstone for 2 different insurance companies and nobody has every queried it.

I believe PCGB can also do valuations but I suspect it may not be quite as flexible as my experience with Silverstone OPC!!!

Regards

Dave

Who is the insurance company Rob?

Ive had a few agreed values - under a certain amount they usualyy let you do yourself with photos.

Above they have always accepted Chris completing a form as a Marque Specialist

Got a couple of companies I'm looking at....

classic line will let me do it myself under 20K (which mine most def. is!!!) for £15

or Norwich union want a club officiated valuation.

Rob,

It's Classicline that I am with - and they accepted the OP letter for £18K on mine. I'm sure Alex will do the business for you anyway.

Classicline were by far the cheapest for me this year - and they included PCGB track day cover as well. I paid £257 for 3000 miles pa.

Had a quick look at Classicline - just wondered - did you go down the "classic car" route or "sportscar"??

thanks

Keith

Keith,

TBH I phoned them!! I was renewing a classic policy I had with A-Plan so I just asked Classic Line to do the same thing. 3000 miles pa was enough for my usage and they included PCGB Track Day cover (not that I'm likely to want it) as well as the agreed valuation and they were significantly cheaper than A-Plan.

Classicline are sponsors for some of the PCGB events and advertise in PP so I was keen on them to start with, but it was the lowest price that won the day.

Regards

Dave

Sorry for the thread hijack Rob!!!

Yep, Mannings were really expensive. Cheapest were the ones above.

The Norwich Union pay as you drive policy was a lot cheaper (about £250 for the year with 4k mileage) but I'd be a bit concious about have someone monitor via GPS what and where(and how fast) I was doing.

Think I'll go with Classic line when I renew. Quoted £349 inc of TD cover.
