Hi guys, as above who do you use for agreed valuation on your car(s)? Ive just had a ridiculous quote from adrian flux and im thinking its time to shop around.

Cheers

Chris

Classic Line Insurance Tel no 01455 639000. I have had my 996C4S with them for 3 years now best prices for Greater London post code and agreed value with 5000 miles. Also discount for PCGB members.[:D]

Do they allow 'normal' mileage of 10,000?

Ring them and try. I have to pay substantially more for 7K over the 5 or 6K I've had before though.

Also try the Club scheme with Locktons, it's getting some good feedback.

One thing (good) with Classic Line - they accepted, with a few photos, the PCGB valuation of my car as the agreed insured value. Also my excess with them is only £100, compared to £350-500 on other quotes I got. I've been with Classic Line for a few years now, not had to claim (touches wood rapidly!!) so can't comment on that side of life, but otherwise I have no reason to complain about their service.

I've got a multi-car policy with Admiral. The Focus (1.8 diesel) and the C4S are £800 for the pair for the year. I had a claim in 2011 and have attended a speed awareness course (no other points though).

Do they do guaranteed value?

I've just renewed grey 924S with Norton Insurance -(been with them several years) fully comp-£50 excess-3K miles pa agreed value (sent 6 new jpegs) £2500 for £126.36 down from standard renewal figure of £178 when I said I was looking to save money & compare the market gave me £144.68 with a branch of Lancaster Insurance--2 named drivers .

I've had a look and I've got a couple of issues so far. 1 seemingly non of the regular companies do garanteed, the ones that do charge a hefty premium. 2 I spent my whole lunchtime of 45 mins just to fill out 4 quotes 3 of which said well ring you, being of the newer generation I would rather do things online as there is far less chance of mistakes due to call centre workers not listening. 3 I think doing circa 10000 a year puts companies off and 4 I'm only 27 so a couple of places won't touch me with a barge pole. My cheapest quote so far is with privilege at £427 whiuch is quite good. It's an estimated at £32,000 (which is what the club habe valued it at) so I'm not sure whether to stick with estimated of find somewhere that dies guarantied. Any thoughts are welcome.

Try 'Manning' they will allow 5000 miles a year and guarantee value (as per Porsche valuation). They also give track cover as standard.

I had problems with an agreed-value policy at first, just because the car isn't garaged. It's a case of hunting around for an insurer who you fit with, as other people's recommendations mean nothing if your circumstances are different. Classicline were the only one that would cover me that first year.

"Classic" policies are designed to be just that: a pampered, weekend car rather than one that's regularly used. Doesn't mean you won't find someone to offer 10K miles, just you might have to trawl lots of companies. [&o]

I used Priviledge once on my C2, and found them to be fine when it came to a claim. However, with most "regular" insurers you might put in what you think is the correct value when you do a quote, but I doubt they will pay out anything other than what they consider to be a market value in the event of a total loss.

As Paul says, the majority of classic policies are for lower mileage pampered weekenders, so you will have to find one which will consider a daily drive, 10,000 mile p.a., 12 y.o. car as a classic. Of course, we know they are, but most insurers will think otherwise. Therefore you are likely to have to pay the premium for specialist cover.

I found Locktons (PCGB insurer) efficient and good value for a limited mileage policy - their quote was marginally cheaper than the previous insurer, and - importantly for me - I could keep it on my driveway instead of garaging it with a friend half a mile away.
I did have to provide a valuation letter, which I obtained from a local Porsche specialist (at a cost of fifty quid as I was in a big hurry), but they were happy with that. Also, you get extra drivers and track day cover.
Cheers, Geoff

Sorry for the delayed reply, Chris. They don't offer a guaranteed value...... but...... When I had a mishap with an old car (also with Admiral) they made an offer of settlement. Not content with this I did some research, pulled cars from Forums and Autotrader and sent a comprehensive pack of information to them explaining it was an 'enthusiasts' car and as such I would never take trade value for it at sale, would always sell privately etc. They gave me what I was asking for plus an additional £500.

Perhaps a degree of risk from what you are looking for but achievable nonetheless.

Im thinking of going with £32,000 estimated and if there was an issue ive got the value from the porsche club to give a decent value hopefully.

I think that's the sensible thing to do in your case Chris.

I had a similar experience to Mark, when my daughter wrote her first car off. I trawled AutoTrader and was able to show the insurer that I couldn't buy a replacement of comparable condition, age, and mileage for the settlement offer. They upped it to the correct value after that.
