Hi all, Can anyone tell me the cheapest insurance! They seem to have gone up quite a lot this time .

While we're on the subject of insurance, does anyone know anywhere that does classic insurance for the younger drivers. I was hoping at some point to get my very first Porsche, but being only 18 it's really enoying that all the companies I've seen only do classic insurance for 21+. The last thing I'd want to do is crash a Porsche, but they don't seem to realise just how special Porsches are. Here's hoping I don't just have to count the days!

Hi Antony

I'm insured with Liverpool Victoria 0800 220790

I rang around a few places last year and they came out best, bizzarely it was CHEAPER to put my girlfriend as a named driver rather than just myself!! (No I can't figure it out either)

It also worth trying 2 slightly different start dates for the same insurance - you would think it wouldn't make a difference, but try it and be surprised!

I'm insured with them as well, and they did the same thing for me and my spouse.
I decided not to ask why, just said 'done'.

Hi

I use Adrian Flux brokers (0845 1303400)

They managed to find me insurance at £230 fully comp when others were quoting £1,200! I had a claim last year on my company car which didn't help my no claims. My policy is a classic so it is restricted to 3,000 miles, me as the only driver and the car has to be garaged at night which suits me.

I have been pleased with the service. Worth a try.

But definately shop around there is a huge difference in prices for the same cover.

regards

John Stratford

Am I paying too much then? I am with Norwich Union, and have been for twelve years. I have my 931, 924lux and 928 all fully comp on the same policy, no mileage limits for £179/month or £2148 for the year.

Take care. There is more to insurance than just the price.
You are buying more than just a sheet of paper that allows you to tax your car.

If you have it as a second car, then it can go on a "classic" policy - anything 10 years old or more seems to count

usually between £200 & £300 pa, and mileage restricted

called Liverpool & Victoria today and apparently my 924 isn't old enough to be on a classic policy with them - quoted me £995!

Does any one know a good place for young drivers, i keep getting quoted about £4500!! however that might have somting to do with only just being 17!

Same problem, I'm 18 and looking for a 924, but I think I'm going to have to wait till I am 21 so that I can afford the insurance! Even with limited milage classic insurance it's looking at £1000/year. Same as a little fiesta now mind... Not quiet the same era as when my dad was this age and getting into Porsches

Adrian Flux, Performance Direct and Cherished Vehicle Insurance all came in sub £200 for a modified Turbo on a drive way, no garage and a driver of similar position to yourself. All with 4,000 mile limit and agreed valuation.

Your main issue will be a whacking premium for being left on the road in London.

Classicline are the only one that would give me a decent limited-mileage policy when I was living in the suburb of Rickmansworth. I used to pay just under £300 for my Lux (the same car essentially), parked on my own drive, limited mileage and agreed value. Us being the same age, I'd say that 50% more wasn't ridiculously high if it's parked on the road, and in a higher-risk postcode? Worth a call though.

Two cars insured seperatley with Heritage/Norton. Both with second driver, both parked in drive.

924S. 7,000 miles limited mileage. With legal cover but no breakdown assistance as am with the AA. £160

924 Turbo. 7,000 miles. No legal expence (as it is covered by the previous one) £125.

In both cases I quoted PCGB membership (worth 15%) both would be cheaper if I reduced the mileage.

I suspect that Geoff proves a point there. He's a little older than the OP [;)], and in a far better postcode for insurance purposes. Nice to know if you can drop it by much!
