Insurance!

Hi everyone, after a good six months searching, I am in final stage of buying my first Porsche - a 993 2CS, a dream hopefully about to come true! I can't wait to get out and about, but first I need some insurance so can anyone recommend a good Porsche specialist / cost-effective company?

Many thanks in anticipation, Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the world of Porsche! Like yourself, I just picked up my 1st P-car this month and have been revelling in it's amazing depth of talent. Insurance wise, the best quote I had was through brokers Adrian Flux. They got me a plan underwritten by Jubilee Insurance on a "Modern Classic" limited mileage (5k mi) type policy which offers a discount for PCGB members. They already covered me on my other car, and I have found their service to be excellent. FWIW, I spoke with a guy called Ashley in "Team Green" and he was exceedingly helpful and pleasant to deal with. Interestingly, their quote was less than 50% of every other broker/insurer I called. Best of luck, and let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Adrien

I also recently became a first time Porsche Owner 993 C4[:)] about 6 months ago. As an expat with lapsed NCB there weren't too many people even willing to take the business. Norwich Union turned out well as the least steep of the bunch.
Its worth ringing a few other people first because when you do get a telephone quote from them, they give you an extra bonus if you take it there and then rather than 'getting back to them later'

Hi Kevin

I use Classic line who were half the price of the next closest.

It may not suit your needs.

Number is in P-Post

I used Liverpool Victoria and easily the cheapest for me at £550 with limited mileage and protected no claims.

Lancaster for me...by far the cheapest

From my experence when/if asked if you have had a cheaper quote always say YES and play them at their own game.

Kevin

Try Asset Trust (01285841555) They did me a really good quote and didn't need to use my NCB either

£550 vs quotes of £700+ at others. They also did an "agreed value" policy for a further £12

I use Asset Trust for insuring a Morgan and I have always liked them. The fact they will do an agreed value policy is really good. They are on my list for my next renewal for my 993.

Thanks for all replies, I have until tomorrow to arrange. Leader board so far has Direct Line at top (£620), then Tesco (£840), then Norwich Union Direct (£879), then a bunch of brokers all quoting £997 and policies all with Norwich Union, but all insisting that price correlation is a coincidence!! Obvious problem with cheaper quotes is high excess (£500 or more) and less 'frills' and if I do have a prang (heaven forbid) I understand that some insurers insist you use their 'approved repairer' rather than an OPC. This is a minefield, worse than choosing the car!!

I went with Norwich Union last year and was able to choose the body shop when I had an accident. (OPC)
