I don't know if others have noticed but insurance premiums seem to have tumbled. Is it due to the change in the law last year regarding loading policies for men?

Last year on my 2009 Boxster (spelling correct) I paid £890 odd due to post code (that's because I live on the outskirts of Ladywood in Birmingham despite being in a gated community with a 24 hour security presence).

My renewal came though and was over £900 with AFlux despite clean licence etc. I went to the Meercat web site and hey presto Admiral for £513.

Needless to say I have moved my insurance so it pays to look around.

Oh and my wife with a new K3 sat Nav sportage was quoted £800 renewal with SWheels but got insurance with Admiral for £420.

Both policies are for business use.

The multi car policy saves us another £100.

I don't work for Admiral BTW!

admiral have been fine for the kids cars but were a nightmare when it came to trying to get a proper OEM windscreen-they made a small contribution but I ended up being £600 out of pocket so wasn't such a great deal after all[]

Been quite a few posts on Pistonheads regarding them, say no more. Wanted you to use National by any chance?

I'm with Manning (for the included track day cover) and last renewal was £630 I think - dropped a little over the previous year. Personally I wouldn't use any of the big companies like Admiral - stick to the specialists.

When my car was vandalised Admiral were incredibly helpfull and agreed for the car to be painted at an approved Porsche bodyshop within 2 days of the incident. I was concerned my renewal premium may be very high but was marginally higher only.

I prefer speaking to people in UK call centres. Personally for me and maybe just unfortunate, Admiral were a nightmare and didn't even know what winter tyres were when I spoke to them to change over. Say no more....

Admiral may be good or bad and I hear what folk are saying about specialist insurers my point was that premiums are lower this year than last and significantly so. Last year my details in Compare the Market generated quotes of £850 and up this year same details £350 and up.

What he said. I've been with Manning for years. They were really helpful when I had a claim - actually taking on the Insurance company underwriting the policy for me when the wording said one thing, but meant something else...

I've been with Manning UK for a couple of years. Good, courteous service and a competitive price. I'll probably get some other quotes this year, including one from the Club's authorised insurer, Lockton, just to check that they're still competitive. Jeff

Renewal notice from Aviva came in at £495 for 2012 Boxster 981 PDK so went on line - ridiculously cheap quotations from companies never heard of - Admiral was about £100 cheaper so telephoned Aviva to tell them to do better so they dropped it to £429 - so stayed with Aviva who we have had no complaints with - 2 new windscreens replaced in last 5 years without any problems. Price includes foreign travel and legal fees - excess £350. John Holmes

Called Adrian Flux today to cancel old policy (renewal £915) explained why and quick as a flash they said they could do my policy renewal for £495! So I asked them why they sent me a renewal for £915 - to which there was no answer. They are just greedy if they had sent me a renewal for say £750 as it was less than my premium last year inertia probably would have had me renewing without shopping around but they had to put it up so lost my custom.

Just put mine back on the road 3.2 2001 boxster. been driving 6 years with 4 years no claims. went with axa who seemed to be the cheapest for me £758 for me not too bad, next year with 5 years ncb will be just over £500 i think

Just to show what a huge divide there is in insurance I too have just changed to AXA and with the 2000 3.2s Boxster my premium went down to £350 fully comp with named driver 3 years ncd saved myself £300 changing from sainsburys. Why? Such huge differences for same cars etc it really is a mine field out there.
