Morning all. As my car insurance is coming up for renewal I, like most of us, got a shock at the huge increase in premiums. At the moment I’m with Direct line with our 997 turbo and our Mercedes estate.but the jump in premiums made me look around. I got a quote from Admiral which was much cheaper and thanks to these pages I got a quote from classicline which was a little under Direct line ’s best but gave a special policy for the 911 and in the unfortunate circumstances of an accident I could pick which repairer to go to and have an agreed value. Any thoughts ?

It's a personal choice. I have a multicar policy with Admiral and you can choose who your car goes to if it needs repair. It does take a little longer as they need to approve the quote but pretty simple.
I've no experience of claiming with classicline however I did get a quote from them a couple of years ago and they were almost 3 times as much as Admiral. Locktons were even worse!

Check that Classic line accrues NCB
You ALWAYS have the right to choose your repairer... but you may pay a larger excess

Classic Line were not willing to accept my NCBs but still came in cheaper vs at least 10 other insurers.
If you plan to track your car, CL's policy includes unlimited PCGB UK track days + 6 non PCGB UK track days per annum. They are no longer covering EU track days from my next renewal.

It depends on the carMorning all. As my car insurance is coming up for renewal I, like most of us, got a shock at the huge increase in premiums. If it is "Special" and you need Valuation guarantee check with LOckton the clubs recommended Insurance Company
If you want cheap you get cheap with bad payouts Bad service and no choice of what thety fit
Basically you get what you pay for
When my 944 needed a new screen LOckton made sure a special fitter from Autoglass came and fitted all Porsche Parts The car and attention he gave was amazing
When Lockton could no longer insure my non classic they sent my accrued NCBCheck that Classic line accrues NCB

Another positive review for ClassicLine. I’ve been with them for many years and have been very satisfied with their service and competitive quotes which, as noted above, include track-day coverage. Usefully, the policy also includes UK and European breakdown coverage and an agreed value which you can get FOC from the Club.
The one claim I’ve had [a collision with a kamikaze cat!] was handle speedily and efficiently using my choice of repairer.

That is useful Thanks
As with any insurance policy it’s important to ensure that it meets all your requirements, the cost being one consideration.
Just to add that the ClassicLine policy on my [garaged] 987.2 Cayman requires the car to be in the garage between the hours of 10.00pm and 6.00am when I’m at home, and I believe that there’s no refund if it’s cancelled early, although these restrictions may be specific to the policy’s underwriter. Also I think that their classic car policies are limited mileage … 3k or 5k?
I assume that you’ve indicated to ClassicLine that you’re a PCGB member to qualify for their Club discount?
