All,
I am not well known here as I have a 964RS and an RS N/GT which I tracked until recently.
Given their values I decided to give it a go with a 996C2 and sourced a manual mint condition Polar Silver original panel/no accidents car which I then prepped as follows;
X51 Sump
New coil packs x6
New plugs
New poly belts
New hoses
Oil + Filter + big service
KW Clubsports + KW top mounts
New rear control arms
Uprated hollow Eibach ARBS
New rear control arms
Polybushed lower arms
Performance friction brakes (no 19 compound)
New OE discs all round
SRF Fluid
Gearbox oil service
New oil cooler
New dash parts to replace butchered DIN slot
New Porsche overmats
Cup GT3 steering wheel with Porsche horn push
2 new keys coded to the car
New OE wiper blades
New spoiler curtain
Rear wiper delete
New OE screen seal
Upgraded 997 wheels (R18)
Nearly new Toyo888s 225/40 265/35 ZR18
Fast road/track geo -2fr, -2.5rear
The car performs superbly on track but I have discovered that I have oil in the coolant which is either a head gasket or more likely a cracked head. the car pulls strongly, runs perfectly and has consistent compression across all cylinders.
The car was quicker at Spa than my RS which proves the capability of the chassis, the KWs are phenomenal shocks as they should be for £3k a set - whilst I didn't pass all the GT3s on track I did get past a fair number
Since I intend to return to an air cooled track platform I may be interested in selling the car "as-is" it would be a great buy for someone mechanically minded who wants a great 996 track car without spending the £20k that I have invested into the car at this point. The car is at 9Meister this week who carried out all the work on the car since purchase earlier this year.
Any interest please pm me, be quick as I already have a couple of people looking but would prefer to sell to a PCGB member.
Thanks for reading,
Kevin
