Tom, It's been the talk of the forums over the last week or so, but silly money seems to be the consensus. One wonders how much you would have to spend on it to get it reliable. I wonder what "re-commissioned" means?? It would obviously have to go to a collector because it would be madness to drive it - the depreciation would be into 4 figures for every mile you drove it!!! Total911 have just run an article on this car and for some strange reason they also keep refering to it as a Carrera 4 but it is clearly a 2. As I'm sure you know, re-commision means it has been made roadworthy again i.e; renewed the out-of-date tyres, oil-change, stale fuel replaced inc associated items of the fuel system as necessary, battery and other consumables belts etc checked/replaced as necessary. This would usually consist of a PDI (pre-drive inspection) but in this case I guess this will be omitted!! []
They did say in the article that it looks good as new and he heard it running and it purred... Also makes the point that you couldn't drive it. If you wanted something exceptional, then you'd be better of with something concours with < 50K, for £20K + which you could drive & would hold its value.ORIGINAL: Gazza3501 Total911 have just run an article on this car and for some strange reason they also keep refering to it as a Carrera 4 but it is clearly a 2.
